Bama has to weather storm the 1st Qtr.
Can't get behind by more than 7 in the 1st half

Frustrate the Tigers and the fans in the 3rd to where they lose that confidence they came to the stadium with

Win the 4th Qtr

A real chance to be Great.

Should be fired after the game if he doesn't. It was plain to see against TAMU that we went went tempo and operated underneath Keelon was extremely comfortable and looked like a point guard.

We just can't let the crowd influence the game for 4 quarters. You start dropping back and homerun hunting off the rip, he is going to get sacked or turn the football over and they are too good to crawl out of a hole against in that environment. Nickel and dime their arse and stay out of 3rd and long and the crowd won't impact the game.

So in short, the path to beating them is staying on schedule offensively. No third and 9's, no third and 15's because you had a procedure penalty. You can't let their defense stack 2-3 consecutive reps all game where they are winning.

LSU is going to move the ball, they're going to score points...but I do think Leavitt is the type of player that if he has to make 6 or 7 passes on every drive, he's going to turn it over a few times. We have to be able to pressure him some. Doesn't have to be every time. Giving up 12, 8, 10, 15 with no pressure doesn't kill you if you can get to him on the next one and force an errant throw and take the ball.

We also need to be strong in the red area on defense. Lane isn't going to kick field goals all night. So we need to be solid on 4th down..probably on both sides of the ball. I could really see 4th down conversions being the padlock stat when you look at the box score at the end of the game. If one team is 4/5 and the other is 1/4, that will be the tale of the tape on why it ended how it ended

Ryan Grubb schemes plays to run an offense regardless of what the schematic advantages are because I think fundamentally he believes his system is so good it doesnt matter who the opponent is.

This is so on point !

I would think the only logical path to beating LSU is to score more points than they do.

Yeah, I agree.

I think it’s obvious to everyone at this point that KR is going to get instant pressure on him if Grubb comes out there in Empty or has #4 in with 3-4 WRs in the Gun….it turns into “sandlot ball” that inevitably ends in a Sack/Grounding/Throw-away.

I just don’t know how Grubb is “okay” with that. You don’t see any other team in major CFB with the QB running for his life routinely

I agree with you here.

I'm still holding out hope we pull one out but if Kiffin has the opportunity, he will run the score up like he did with Clemson... hence the statement win.

He knows how many LSU (and every other programs not named Bama) fans & boosters want to see it happen.

Holding an offense like LSU’s to 27 or less points and forcing a couple key turnovers that set the offense up with short fields should ALWAYS be enough for Alabama to beat a top opponent.

South Carolina has given teams fits offensively, Kentucky has too.

The expectation for the offense shouldn’t be that the defense must hold the opponent to 24 or less and force multiple turnovers to have a chance to win.

Especially when you factor in all the turnovers and also the number of series where our own offense takes less than 90 seconds off the clock and has to Punt and give the ball right back to the opponent.

24-28 points with 14 of those points coming off of 5 minute+ drives should always be the minimum expectation for an Alabama offense.

Bama was able to do that with John Parker Wilson and a Freshman Julio Jones surrounded by Shula recruits.

In 2007, Bama lost to LSU (eventual National Champion) in a 41-37 type game.
Then of course they beat LSU the following season in overtime in Tiger Stadium.
The talent on Bama’s offense compared to what LSU had on defense back then was at a drastic disadvantage, but they were physical and didn’t make mistakes (let alone a dozen of them).

Bama has far too much talent not to be able to do what Kentucky has accomplished on offense this season imo

you know, it says a whole lot for the state of the program when you're comparing it to kentucky

What's the logical path to beating LSU

Offense: find balance; stay on schedule; plan against effective LSU pass rush; quick decisions and designed runs for Russell; capitalize on turnovers; sustain drives

Defense: find an effective run defense; cover a big TE/WR; get off the field on 3rd down; put the game on Leavitts arm

STs: no unforced errors

Play smart, disciplined football and find a way to better communicate in a hostile situation than we had at Neyland

Pretty much.

If we have some key players back, and it looks like we do, it all comes down to gameplan and execution. If Grubb drops KR back for long chunks and he gets sacked he will blame it on execution. Get ready for that excuse.

I think the defense needs to be aggressive. Don't sit back and hope they don't score a TD. I also think we need to see Keelon use his legs a bit more (not designed runs necessarily), but if the first couple of reads aren't there go pick up a few yards (and get down) or throw it away. Stay ahead of the chains. Don't get hit and lose yards.

Lane wants SO BAD to beat Alabama that he pushes it - and it shows on the field.

Unless he has matured a lot - and has he really?

Getting an early lead will be a big deal I think. Theyve been hitting on all cylinders against pretty lackluster teams...but you have to think they might start pressing a bit at some point if things dont go easy for them

Weve been atrocious on 1st drives...it sure would be nice to start with three straight runs...including at least one QB run. I think play action and moving KR is a winning play.

Make them drive the field, their QB is going to turn the ball over
