2009 and 2020

Some of us need to remember that when we talk about the decline. How many of y’all remember the years between Stallings and Saban?

Disappointing loss, but the sky ain’t exactly falling.

We will get to ATL and play for an SEC championship and a CFP berth.

Biggest worry is the trend of consistently being undisciplined, poor schemes offensively and defensively, and apparent coaching and player complacency since 2020. Maybe Nick will address it this off season, but if not, then expect more inconsistency and more games like last night and TX and ATM this year and AU, LSU, ATM, and GA NCG.

Agreed.

Yesterday was a game filled with Mistakes/Penalties (some of them were warranted, some weren't cough).

Mississippi State is our next game and I really do hope we play pissed

If we have this same staff, next year could be one we haven’t had in a while. I think the most season losses we have had since 08 was 3 in 2010. That group was incredibly talented, but suffered through injuries and poor focus. We will not have Bryce or Gibbs next year to mask our offensive deficiencies, which are there despite what some of you think. Bryce should be greatly admired for what he has done this year and last. He took a beating yesterday due to poor OL play and some wonderful refereeing, and had not practiced much at all from what I understand, but still went out there and performed at a really high level.

We aren't in a decline. We just have problems with coordinators.

Golding was really bad, but has gotten better. He still isn't close to Kirby or Pruitt.

Bill O'Brien is horrendous and hasn't gotten better. He isn't even average talk much comparing him to Kiffin or Sark.

We went from having an offensive coordinator who could make Blake Sims a passing juggernaut to one who can't even score when we get to 1st in goal with soon to be NFL All-pro's Bryce Young and Jahymr Gibbs.

It's quite the drop.

Anyways, if Saban makes a better hire in the off-season for OC we will be back to being feared.

It’s not so much the losses but how we’re losing them. The fire, swag, fu attitude is gone. There was a time when Saban demanded a certain level of perfection but after last year we all know that requirement is gone (his press conference). Last night was the most penalized game in the history of Alabama. That means ever. The Texas game was tied for it. So two games, 5 weeks apart. You would think after Texas that it would be a major area the team has worked to improve. So either it’s not being worked on or it’s not being received (coached) correctly. Add in the abysmal play calling on both sides. Saban needs to make a major overall. If he doesn’t this is the new status quo and it’ll be evident that his new interest is trying to rebuild/develop coaches instead of win games.

The 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2017 teams all had a good defense that didn’t have a dunce calling the plays. They weren’t undisciplined. Those teams didn’t set an Alabama record for penalties in a game twice in the same season.

Apparently all of the progress he had made went out the window yesterday. I still can’t believe he kept lining safeties up on #11 when UT would stack the receivers.

Should have gone undefeated several more years in there.

Better question is why did Saban let him keep doing that?

He didn't do it on purpose. Their OC is just smart and did things to creative mismatch before the snap.

If our OC wasn't an idiot he could have done the same.

Golding is allowed to adjust pre-snap, too. After it happened the first time he should have been ready for it to come up again.

Hate to disagree but I don't see us beating Ole Piss.
