We beat 2 top 20 teams in the past 3 weeks and only moved 3 spots in the AP poll

Went from #11 on October 15 to #8 today, November 5th. With no more scheduled top 20 games left, the automatic path to the CFP is still in doubt, IMO.

If Bama wins out, there's no chance they're not in the playoff.

Thankfully all the teams ahead of us will start moving out of our way in the next 4 weeks

If K State had just beaten Texas. Tired of seeing the Longhorns always one spot ahead of us. But there will be some movement soon. I think we actually need Georgia to win out so we face them undefeated in the SECCG. Win that and they'd leap us over Texas regardless. I think where things get dicey is if it's a Georgia with already one loss that we potentially beat. So hard as it is, we probably need to pull for Georgia until then so a potential win would give us the maximum boost.

There’s no automatic path. We need some unbeaten teams to lose and we need Texas to lose. Anyone saying our path is automatic if we win out isn’t paying attention. Even if we beat UGA there’s potential for us to be behind:

Unbeaten Big Ten champ
Unbeaten Washington
Unbeaten FSU
1-loss Texas

I think if we win out we’d get in but we definitely need help at this point. Also a 1-loss Oregon that avenged its defeat to Washington could be a problem.

That is def not a guarantee. Three undefeated conference Champs would be in. If UT runs the rest of the table, they have us head to head in Tuscaloosa. The committee would probably put them ahead of us.

You can look at the last few years and know that the committee has no interest in strength of schedule.

Yep. We'd be top 5 right now with Michigan style scheduling.

Oregon doesn’t have great wins at the moment, but a 3 point road loss is much better than a 10 point home loss. We’ve won national championships before (2011 and 2017) via the “bad loss” metric, so I don’t think we can complain much there.

The SEC, including us, completely shite the bed OOC this year, so I think it’s right for the league to get dinged in the polls.

One conference is going to get screwed. We just have to hope someone beats Washington.

That's when money comes into play. Do you take Washington with a small fan base or Alabama, the dynasty of CFB? Plus Bama will have a win over a top 5 team if they win out and Georgia is undefeated

Bama isn’t getting in over an undefeated Washington.

A undefeated or one-loss SEC champion isn't getting left out.

Why would they leave any undefeated team out?

They won't have to. They will obviously pick us over Texas and people will melt over it.

However they will use the same excuse they have in the past; Alabama is better now and Texas isn't.

This committee would love nothing more than to leave the SEC out of the playoffs.

If chaos doesn’t happen, who will the committee arbitrarily move us in front of.

They have already stated based on their ranking that they like Oregon and Texas over Bama.

The SEC shite the bed out of conference this year. I used to argue with people on here who wanted SEC teams to lose out of conference games. But we'd be in better shape if the SEC had dominated so more of our conference wins were "big wins."

You don't have to LIKE other teams, but it benefits us when the conference does well.

Doesn’t matter. If we win out(including the SEC championship) we are in. Rankings don’t matter this year. If we lose again we are out.

Probably, but not certainly.
