Hell of if I know, in my eyes he’s setting up an off ramp for just about every scenario that might happen across the board.

Miami could move up if BYU loses.
ND will move down if BYU wins.
But why?
They already played each other. Neither played BYU.
Why not have Miami above ND now?

They said that teams who play in conference title games cannot get moved below teams who dont play.
Bama literally cannot go below ND or Miami.

Can you please provide a link to that quote?

The chairman just said that ND & Miami can both move up or down next week after they evaluate the championship games.
I'm not saying Miami jumps ND. I'm saying that Miami and ND could both still move up or down in the scenarios I mentioned (although my understanding is that Miami can't jump ND based on what the Committee said last year).

There is no direct quote that I can find but ESPN has said it live multiple times.
A team that plays in a conference title game and loses will not be punished, but a team that wins can be rewarded.
Basically we can move ahead of Georgia with a win but ND and Miami do not play so they have no way of moving ahead of us.
Teams already in the playoff rankings can be shifted around but you cant drop out to a team that wasnt in the projected field.
The only team outside of the field that can be rewarded for winning is BYU. This would knock ND out of the field because there are two conference winner spots out there left and ND is not playing in a conference championship game.
Its the same scenario as us and SMU last season.

So Miami can't jump a team they beat head to head?

Yeah, I haven't seen the Committee say that. I think you're misremembering what the Committee said last year.
quote:
So, how is the College Football Playoff Committee viewing the losing teams in those conference championship games? ESPN's College GameDay host Rece Davis asked CFP Committee chair Warde Manuel if those losing teams will be evaluated similar to the rest of the "at-large pool" that includes teams not playing in a conference title game.
quote:
"Probably fair to say that, yeah," Manuel said. "We don't look at it as an at-large pool, but we will evaluate the teams and how they play. Again, Rece, this is something that has been done every year in the final week we've evaluated teams. Teams can move up and down, but what you won't see is teams who are not playing move above or below other teams who are not playing."
Reread the bold, underlined text. It's not saying what you just said.

I think Grubbs will be asked to call a conservative game. No trick plays, 15 will throw to check downs, etc. . Cole Adams will be returning kicks,
Ball security low scoring close game (10pt or less ) should do the trick.

Well that's why we ran the ball so much against Eastern Illinois and why the momentum carried to auburn.
Hopefully that last TD pass momentum gives Ty a confidence boost and he shows out against UGA

Even if we win the SEC we aren’t getting a bye week.
The final rankings will include between 3 and 5 teams with one loss, and one two loss team that beat us head to head that are currently ranked above us, and that’s assuming we beat UGA. Even if we win the SEC I don’t see how we jump 5 of those teams to move from 9 to 4.
If we beat UGA we would move up above UGA, but not sure about the rest. I suspect the final top 4 will be tOSU, Texas Tech, Indiana, and Oregon. I think the highest an SEC Championship gets us is 7.
There is zero shot of a bye. If we take a third loss I think we are out.

Assume Bama wins then we go ahead of UGA but where does UGA land. They beat OM head to head. Bama at 4 and UGA at 5?

We could move to 10 with a loss IMO, so his statement is accurate,
But shifting us out now would cause a massive problem where championship games would immediately be under threat of ending.

Why would possibly believe a 2 loss team will jump multiple 1 loss teams. And a 2 loss UGA would only drop to 5?

I think Bama gets a bye but I could see a few outcomes:
1.Texas Tech win moves to 3, we go to 4, UGA to 5
2. Bama goes to 5, Oregon to 4, UGA 6 everyone bumps down basically
3. Or total turmoil, BYU beats Tech Bama to 3, UGA to 4, Oregon to 5 or switch those last two out

I think there's a chance Bama gets left out with a bad loss, but this I don't agree with at all.
If they beat UGA in the state of Georgia for the second time this year, they'll get the last bye.
