After the disaster ending to last year, you'd think it wouldn't take a loss to Ole Miss to restore our focus and hunger.

But the reality is that, while some of the individuals are the same, this is a different team. You can have all the focus and hunger in the world, but if you're just not as good yet, that's going to show up at some point. Look at all the guys starting and getting significant snaps for the first time in their careers. They may be extremely focused and hungry, but that doesn't make them an SEC championship caliber team. Hopefully they get to that point.

This is what I was getting at with my post. I hate hearing the "This time we are going to run the table because we are hungry now! Ignore the last time that we said it."

I don't think this team has enough experienced talent to make a run for it.

In terms of being hungry, however, perhaps a lack of hunger could have been exhibited through the careless penalties and fumbles. But I don't see how Blake and Coop being more hungry will lead Christion Jones to not fumble or Landon Collins to not get burned.

You know what creates hunger? Not motivational posters or pep talks, but true competition. Tell Leon Brown to have a seat on the bench until he can stop committing penalties. Put Christion Jones on notice for both return duties and WR. Make them earn it. Hell, put some fire under LC's butt if that is what it takes.

I'm trying to remember the last time Saban had a qb not throw during the media viewing period when the qb was 100% healthy.

How many practices have you been to over the past several years that the qbs threw during the media period vs not at all? Was just Blake not throwing or were all the QBs not throwing during the media period?

Bama played a poor game and lost. We still played well enough to have a chance to win the game at Ole Miss , still need to give Ole Miss credit for being good football team. The defense held them to way less than their season average and I bet it will be one of their lower totals all year. 326 yes, 76 rushing and 250 passing. They have a legit defense and we rushed for 168 and passed for 228 for a 396 total. The turnovers and penalties is what killed us and has been the problem in our past 2 others losses.

This is a rebuilding year of sorts and we still have a team that can get to the SECCG and CFPO. Your constant calling for Blake to be benched to prepare for the future is just asinine given that the season goals are still within reach. This team will get better as they gain experience and if they work hard, which I believe they will. This team isn't perfect, not many every are, but it is full of great players and I guarantee you that they want to win more so than you want them to. What they do isn't easy and I laugh at all the armchair qbs, WRs, rbs and etc. Look at all the post on the final play where OJ wasn't able to catch the ball. He should've done this or that etc. That was a hell of a play the dB made. There is still plenty of games to be played and from the sound of the OP this teams is going to work harder and continue to try to achieve the goals. Glad to hear.

You serious? An over-the-shoulder catch doesn't work like that. If you've ever had to attempt to catch one you'd know that. It wasn't OJ's fault.

I have and he didn't have to catch it over the shoulder. If he gave a full effort and didn't slow down he could have high pointed that ball.

Howard got beat on that play. Sims threw him a good ball against a player who was 7 inches SHORTER than Howard. He didn't even jump for the ball.

My outlook with bias aside is the team needed a jolt and this was it. People will be getting benched and they now know they don't want to be the puppet of the media. Yeldon went ballistic in the locker room. Thirst carry over to something I dunno.

I am one of those against all odds they believe they can win. They may

The throw wasn't wrong, he did two things wrong on the throw.

He threw it to his outsideor behind him instead of leading him to the inside of the field, giving the saftey the time to come over and make the play.

Also, OJ is taller and his man was trailing him, he should have put the ball in a line right at OJs inside, there is no way anyone could have got the pass the but OJ.

If you talk to him, I wish he would understand situational awareness, sure we don't want our QB getting hurt, but on 3rd down on the first drive he slide 2 yards short with only a DB between him and the first down, he has to take on that small DB and get the first down, in 2nd down in a blowout slide, but in a competitive game on third down, as a former RB he has to go for the first down.

The B.S. holding call probably cost us the game.

Along with bad coaching from our O.C. who tried to get cute in a close game when we were slashing them for 5 yards a carry.

Blake played OK, there was a few dropped passes and a few bad throws, but he has to understand that you can't sit on one man ( zCooper ) every play, you have to understand what the defense is giving you.

He will be OK, I don't think we lose again and Ole Miss will lose 3 or 4 this year so we are ok.

This. I was seriously befuddled when I logged on here after the game and saw that this was a complaint. He obviously didn't have a good game at all, but the last play wasn't his fault.

That makes zero sense.

He would have had to slow down even more to high point the ball. He overruns the pass if he doesn't slow down, plus he was getting close to the back of the end zone.

I think Blake is not part of our problem and he was dead on to put the ball up for OJ on that play. It's inexcusable for him to let a little jumping gerbil DB take that ball from him.

I think this team has a problem with the type of players we are recruiting. They are talented and all but their primary concern seems to be getting to the NFL. They leave in many cases too early. How much of a difference could Sunsuri have made Saturday? Well he was warming a bench in New Orleans instead of playing football. Sure he gets a pay check now. but he would have gotten one next year too. It seems to matter not if they are playing worth a crap, just that they measure up when the scouts come. I like Collins, I really do, but is he really good enough to play in the NFL? If Bo Wallace roasts him like a Christmas Turkey what does he think Payton Manning will do to him? The question should be "Am I ready to put my best foot forward", not "Can I go now". CJ Mosley did it right, he waited, and he's already one of the leading tacklers in the NFL. I know none of this is Sims fault, he's always been a team player first even when it meant he didn't get any personal glory. He deserves better support from the team around him. They need to start asking more important questions than when do I get paid. Virtually all of them will get their shot in the NFL just for being an Alabama player.

No, what you're saying makes zero sense. If he ran full speed, he would only have to adjust himself as he lept. Instead he slowed down, then lazy thought he could just catch it over his shoulder after he misjudged the pass.

It is absolutely asinine to say he would outrun that pass. He would have, it would have hit him in perfect stride, enough for him to adjust in the air, high point the catch and put a foot down.

Stop making excuses for him. If you ask me I think he didn't believe he'd get the ball, then was lazy when it came his way. He didn't see the guy behind him and thought he just cradle the catch. Instead of attacking the ball he wanted to make sure he didn't mess things up.

Give Howard a little bit of a pass on that one. He had NEVER had to do that before.

Was Blake's throw perfect? No. Was the ball catchable? Yes. Should Howard have tried harder for it? Hell yes!

Blake deserves zero blame for the int. Jebus Christ! Ball was delivered to OJ with a handwritten net to "please join me in game winning celebration upon completion of this catch."

CrimsonBoz...tell Blake, at least one poster here appreciates his and the teams efforts. Win or lose they are great kids and represent the University and our state with tremendous class.

By rule, it really wan't a BS call, but we've been flagged for it at least 3 times now in recent years late in a game. Andre Smith in the 2008 LSU game on a JPW scramble in the 4th(I think JPW scored a TD that got called back), Howard in last year's Iron Bowl on a Yeldon 1st down run, and Howard again Saturday. All 3 were to the right of the formation as well. Eerily similar.

Couldn't agree more. As much praise as we've heaped on Kiffin, he was pretty bad Saturday. The first drive of the 2nd half was just abysmal. We're getting 5 yards a carry from Yeldon and Henry, and he calls a QB zone read that Blake tries to break outside. Stick with the bread and butter and get the ball in the end zone. I had a bad feeling after that drive.

As for the throw to Howard in the end zone, I didn't have a problem with it. It was a decent throw that Howard should have fought harder for. Their guy just made a better play, which was the theme for the whole day. When the chips were down, more times than not their guy made the better play.
