Are we not even going to discuss how an all-male sport is problematic to the birthing-person and trans communities?

Here you zirs are focusing on a word in a song when you should be focusing on the inequities and injustices that stem from a male-dominated sport.

So when the song is sung in the stands during games, and thousands of fans make sure that they scream (at the top of their lungs) DIXIE , it won't bring attention to the ridiculousness of the entire thing, huh?

Leave it in there. Its just a word. Not hurting anyone. Its the history of Alabama representing a location. I guess people forget its the same location that also did away with slavery.

Leaks coming out of the students say this is just the beginning.

The faculty group is also looking to challenge gendered language in the fight song "Every Bama man's behind you"

as well as the possible Confederate connection to the phrase "ROLL TIDE" with the CSS Alabama and the southern song "Roll Alabama Roll"

Lots of people simply equate love of the South with a belief in Lost Cause mythology even if literally nothing points to it. It's bizarre, and leads to this kind of nonsense. The South is the only part of the country it is socially unacceptable to be proud of being from.

Which is why ESPN loves to trot out self-flagellating types like Wright Thompson. He's here to convince you that you should be as guilt-ridden as he is.
