I don't think we have to worry about Shack because of his size/position combination. Us having a run, and Primo showing out could put him back on the draft radar though.

Where are you seeing this? Just curious because it kind of contradicts what Surge posted earlier that he read elsewhere (i'm assuming Surge got it from BOL?). Not intending to call anyone or their sources out, all rumors or insider type posts are welcome as far as I am concerned. Just not sure which ones are more legit than others or if we really even know which ones are and which ones aren't.

I don't either, but if we're thinking about bringing in two transfer guards it only makes sense if the coaches have reason to believe it may be more than just Petty departing the program. Primo hasn't really put together much of a body of work to be drafted on, and while he's athletic he's not some freak of nature who teams will draft based solely on his ability to run and jump. So it'd have to be Shack or JQ.
Ultimately I think any rumor of us leading for either Burnett or Jones is probably more them wanting to be here than us pushing really hard for them though.

Another thing to consider as far as roster construction and scholarship spots for future recruiting classes:
Nimari should have four years of eligibility left.
Myreon should have two (at the most) years of eligibility left.
Somebody correct me if i'm wrong on that.

I could see a realistic path for one or the other, but i'm not sure about both. I'm not sure we actually want to have room for both tbh. Oats really wanted Nimari before he went to Tech and my guess is he'd rather have him over Myreon in a vacuum.
I'm firmly in the Shack is not getting drafted this year crowd. He can work his way there eventually, but I just can't see a team pulling the trigger on him this year. 6'3" (are we sure he is really even that tall) two guards that aren't super athletes, have a decent but not elite offensive game, very few true PG abilities and isn't a lockdown type plus defender - I just find it hard to think a team is drafting that guy right now. It's still not a guarantee that Petty will be drafted and he checks a few more boxes than Shack does imo.
JQ is kind of scary though. I could see a team taking a chance on him. He's not the best player he can/will be yet, but it's hard not to see all the potential he has. He should stay in college (and I really hope he does) and keep improving, because he could end up as a first round pick eventually.
Primo was seen as a first round pick in the upcoming NBA draft before the season started. The season hasn't gone perfectly for him and he slipped off the 2021 draft radar and became a 2022 lottery pick in most mocks. I think someone might take a chance on him in the second round if he declared after the season, but I think he would be smart to come back for at least one more year to work his way back into the lottery or at least the first round.

Insider on another board. Rivals.

To some in the recruiting circle, they think Alabama leads for Myreon Jones and if they pursue him then they will likely land him. What does that mean for Nimari Burnett? Who knows. I do not think Alabama would take both and Bediako too.

I discussed with a fellow Rivals writer about Burnett, and he thinks Alabama leads for him as well. Keep an eye on these two because Nimari commits between April 6-10.

Yeah JQ is the only one I'm a little worried about. He looked like a good college player before he presumably got COVID and struggled for a while after he got back, but over the last month or so he has looked like an NBA PG. He's getting his own shot whenever he wants it, knocking down deep 3s at a consistently high rate, and creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. It's just a question of whether anyone wants to roll the dice on his current level of play being the kind of player he will continue to be in the future as opposed to the guy we saw back in November and December simply being on a hot streak. I could see someone taking that gamble in the middle/end of round 2, but if he bets on himself and plays like he has lately for a full season he's a mid/late 1st round guy.

I think there's a chance his game is infinitely more successful in the NBA where defense is no longer played.
Give him the amount of open space that exists in the NBA and he will feast.

Gotcha.
Does he have a pretty good track record? It would be great if we had a legit insider or two for the basketball program. Seems like it's been forever since we had one.

Just wonder why we are pursuing them both. Seems like we would want/need bigs at this point.

Not sure, but I remember thinking some people were harassing him constantly for info and being critical of him when he was wrong.

Regarding the transfer portal, Indiana players are jumping ship. 3 starters have entered. Trace Jackson-Davis, 6'9" forward, averaging 19 & 9, may leave as well. CBS Sports
I have no idea if he can run and shoot the 3. CBS suggests that he is their best.

He can't. He hasn't even attempted one through his first two years.

Yeah, he's an excellent player. He doesn't fit our system very well though. He's never even attempted a 3P in his career. He's a great player though. If he does transfer, there will be dozens of teams trying to get him.

All I remember about him is he said JD Davison was gonna go to the G league instead of Alabama.
