LINK ]Penn State transfer Myreon Jones, Alabama in communication (BOL)
quote:

Penn State transfer LINK ]Myreon Jones, an Alabama native, is in the Transfer Portal looking for his next collegiate stop. The Nittany Lions’ leading scorer in 2020 (15.3 points per game) anticipates having immediate eligibility at his future program, with two more years to play.

Alabama assistant Bryan Hodgson has already made contact. “Just they were interested in recruiting me and they wanted to build a relationship,” he said of his only conversation thus far with UA.

Jones has taken notice of Alabama’s success this season. “Just their style of play,” Jones said of what stands out. “They get up and down the court. The SEC is a good conference. And then Coach (Nate) Oats has done a good job with the players he’s got now. I’m pretty sure most of them might be future draft picks. That’s what I’m trying to do.”

Jones is familiar with several players on the UA roster, dating back to his high school time in Birmingham. “I know John Petty, I know Herb (Jones), I know Alex Reese. That’s pretty much it,” he said.

Jones isn’t limiting himself to any list just yet. He says programs like Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, TCU, and UCF, among others, have all reached out. “I’m just open to everyone right now,” he said.

Jones’ plan is to narrow his list down in two or three weeks and commit a week after that.

I know Jones father. At this stage he’s not really considering us. He wants to go somewhere where he will start and be the primary scorer. Not really interested in a school where he’s in a rotation with a lot of other guards.

ETA: Random BOL poster.

With your “facts” and stuff. We don’t have time for that. Not on this board.

If we go to the portal, I want us to pull a meaner, more enforcer Bruner who can clean the glass and put it back in the hole. We need a guy who is a threat to throw it down if you decide to guard the 3 line. Man , what I wouldn’t give to have Dante Hall for one more season.

We play a 5 out offense, that means all 5 guys are outside the 3 point line. We need a big that can shoot threes to make it work.

We don't play an old school, big guarding the middle clogging up the lane type style.

Bediako is a good combination of what you want and what we need, he can be an elite rebounder/defender, and has the potential to develop into a good shooter.

We have one in Alex Tchikou if hes healthy. 6'11 can handle the ball and shoot the three with ease. We need someone that can clean the glass and bang inside if we need to because I have a bad feeling about that skinhead at Michigan if we get that far.

He's going to give us fits.

Yeah, he is the perfect big for us on offense, I am not sure how good of a defender he is but if he can be good on defense then he is gonna dominate for us the next few years.

Watching his highlights I wish we had him now. Had he played all year he'd be a huge help . You can't teach 6'11 240 with a touch like he has.

If we get Bediako that gives us two 6'11 guys to go with all those guards we'll have plenty of size

Oats' Buffalo team dominated Arizona who had Deandre Ayton who was the best big in the country and number 1 draft pick and is way better than Dickinson. Oats' philosophy is to have long guards who can deny the big guy on the other team the ball, and then our big will be able to shoot the three which will bring Dickinson out to the three point line leaving the lane open for our players to drive to the basket.

Dickinson would be a liability on defense vs us.

I think we match up really well vs Michigan, they are big but they are slow.

He parked three feet from the basket on offense all night and LSU had fits with him, the officials let him live in the lane and Michigan ran a lot of their offense inside out.

They are big and the zebras let them beat on LSU.

That's true but the reason LSU lost is because Brooks and Brown went 8 out of 15 from three. The three pointer is what beat LSU. LSU's downfall is that they are terrible on defense.

I like our chances in any game where they let both teams play physical.

Just saw a tweet where he added AU to his final list. Like where did that come from.

Kids are hedging their bets in case plan A falls through. It's like Oats offering kids in the portal, win-win.

Any chance we're in it on the transfer from UNC? Kessler?
