I wouldn't describe his shot as "smooth"
Smooth is the wrong word, his stance is pretty awkward but what I meant is he has a nice touch on his shot to be almost 7 feet tall. Most people that big shoot straight line drives, he gets a nice arc on the ball. I think with his touch the potential is there for him to be at least an adequate outside shooter.
All we really need is for him to shoot like 30% from three, enough that teams can't leave him wide open when he is out there.

I'd say if there is any truth to that report about both sides cooling on each other over style fit it's probably got more to do with the fact that he's not very comfortable with the ball in his hands and we ask our bigs to pass and dribble a good bit.
Might be, but if he has any hopes of getting to the NBA he is gonna have to be able to dribble and pass. Might as well go somewhere in college that asks you to do it so you can improve at it.

I'm just looking at it from the standpoint of why either party would see it as a poor fit. I don't actually think he'd be a bad fit, and I'm not even sure that was an accurate report at this point since a bunch of national guys are still saying they expect it to be us. If we have backed off of him or he has backed off of us he's keeping it a pretty big secret.

Probably was something some big 10 school was telling him about how he would be a better fit in their style, Oats probably had to reassure him of some things and got him back on board. If he wants to play in the NBA our offense would be better for him, the NBA doesn't really value traditional bigs anymore.

The whole "doesn't fit Alabama's style" thing never really made any sense to me, but I just kind of accepted it as fact

I agree.
I think Bediako and Tchikou would compliment each other perfectly. Bediako is elite rebounder and defender but still pretty solid on offense, Tchikou has the potential to be elite offensively.
As fast as our offense is Oats usually only likes to play the bigs about 20 minutes a game anyway, so they could both play a lot.

Tchikou also has the skill set to play a lot of 3.

Yeah, they could definitely be on the court at the same time with how skilled Tchikou is.

2022 five-star Gradey Dick will announce his college decision next week, he tells me.
Expect it to be Kansas.

Alabama signee Jusaun Holt with an excellent postseason performance last night for @StFrancishoops1. He had 24 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
The future Crimson Tide wing is excellent at creating space, versatile defender, runs the floor well, etc.

Looking at Bediako highlights, I see a small resemblance to Patrick Eweing

WHERE HE STANDS: Bediako plans to announce sometime in March, but he has not announced a specific date. The four-star center’s final five is comprised of Texas, Alabama, Duke, Michigan and Ohio State. In a recent interview, the IMG Academy star says he plans to see how his finalists do in the NCAA Tournament before making the call.
WHERE HE’S GOING: Alabama seems to be the frontrunner. Bediako’s relationship with Nate Oats and his staff is strong, and the four-star prospect sees the work the program has done with fellow Canadians. Ohio State and Texas certainly have punchers' chances here. Michigan and Duke seem like less likely landing spots.

Gradey Dick plans to announce his college decision next week
Our first prospect discussion is centered around four-star forward Gradey Dick, the No. 33 ranked recruit in the 2022 class. Last month, Alabama was included in his list of eight schools with the likes of Kansas, Baylor, and Florida. He plans to announce his college decision next week.
Kansas is the current favorite, holding all four FutureCast predictions. Playing for Sunrise Christian (Kan.), one of the most well-known programs in the nation, Dick is the third or fourth option in his offense. That’s what allows him to excel in a catch-and-shoot role as one of the most prolific shooters. He’s a nightmare for defenders, providing the floor-spacing needed as a 6-foot-7 wing.
On the other hand, Dick lacks the aggressiveness to take enough shots on a nightly basis and can be an unreliable option at times. For someone who doesn’t initiate the offense or provide bursty athleticism, it’s important for Dick to take advantage of his matchups and look to pull the trigger on open 3. He’s a gifted finisher around the basket and is willing to fight for second-chance shots.
Dick is a skilled passer with excellent court vision. On film, that’s something that quickly catches the eye. He has excellent size to make difficult reads over the defense. Although, Dick will often look to make these plays unfold himself, usually attacking the basket as a cutter or even through a dribble handoff initiated by Sunrise’s motion-offense.
As a defender, he brings an active, blue-collar approach, diving for loose balls, taking charges and crashing the boards. Adding more muscle to his frame could increase his defensive role at the next level while allowing more interior matchups against bigger forwards.

Does Charles Bediako end up at Alabama?
I am expecting Charles Bediako to end up at Alabama and so is the Crystal Ball. Currently there are five predictions in his Crystal Ball with all of them reading Alabama.

Adding Bediako would jump us up to the #3 overall recruiting class.
Michigan 69.44
Florida State 65.96
Alabama 65.83
Villanova 65.14
Kentucky 64.55

I'd be pretty thrilled with adding Bediako and a grad transfer wing and calling it a class.

Yeah, this is a great class top to bottom if we add Bediako.
He's not as exciting as JD or highly ranked as Bediako, but Holt is still my favorite in our class. That kid is going to be so good in his sophomore and junior seasons.

Yeah Holt is the kind of kid you need at least one of in every class because he's going to spend 3 or 4 years in college getting better as a player and become a team leader as an upperclassman. Those guys end up being the backbone of a program.

Holt is gonna play next year IMO. He is a Darius Miles that plays elite defense IMO
