Pennsylvania native and Junior College standout Langston Wilson lit up the recruiting trail all summer long. The 6-foot-9 prospect out of Georgia Highlands landed 30+ scholarship offers and bolstered himself as one of the nation’s top-rated junior college prospects in America.

It’s the day and age where Universities pride themselves on JUCO prospects and they all usually make an immediate impact on and off the court once they enroll in school. Wilson, who will have two years of eligibility in college after this season, was a major impact as a redshirt freshman this season.

Wilson played in 32 games as a redshirt freshman this past season, averaging 10.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, as the Chargers finished with a 24-8 record.

He does lead busy recruitment, as we stated above, and he broke it all down with Stockrisers.com

Which programs are still involved in your recruitment?

Wilson: “Georgia State, Miami, Florida State, Ole Miss, Kansas State, Kansas, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Oregon, Morgan State, Howard, Alabama, Maryland, Penn State, Memphis, Georgia Tech, Tulsa, Iona, SMU, just to name a few.”

You had virtual visits recently, how did those go?

Wilson: “Texas A&M, it was an overall breakdown of the school and the coaching staff and just trying to learn and get a better understanding of them so that was the main focal point of that. West Virginia was also a style of play type of zoom, so really the main focal point is you know coaches are just trying to explain to me how I would fit in their system and the types of things I would be doing in their system. Penn State recently did one also and that one went very well.”

Kansas completed one as well, correct?

Wilson: “Yeah, I did a zoom with Kansas as well. Coach Self and Coach Howard talked a little bit about you know my story and we also spoke about you know the guys from the area that I’m friends with that have had success at Kansas. We also spoke about you know their need for a forward to come in and play immediately so it was good.”

Alabama talked with you recently as well, how did that go, what’s their pitch?

Wilson: “They want me to come in and replace Herb Jones who is a really good player for them right now. I love his game, so hearing that definitely put them in the mix. Plus, Coach Oats has a great past with JUCO players at Buffalo.”

Is it possible for you to commit this month?

Wilson: “I’m not sure honestly. It is definitely possible, but I’m not set on it yet. Really just when I feel comfortable and feel like the staff has my best interest in mind both on and off the court and once I feel as though I found that situation, I’ll probably just go ahead and commit.”

Breaking: Five-star senior Bryce McGowens will de-commit from Florida State and reopen his recruitment, a source told @Stockrisers.

Florida State is still heavily in the mix, he wants to make sure it’s the right decision.

Wow, that's not something you see very often in basketball. FSU was the number one class and McGowens is a 5* and the #25 overall player in the 2021 class.

When do Bediako & Houstan plan to commit?

Houstan said he prefers to commit before his senior season begins. So it would seem like that would be in a matter of weeks if nothing changes.

Bediako originally wanted to commit in November, however he said it would probably be February or March of 2021 because the pandemic.

2021 five-star Trevor Keels will not be committing today, he tells me.

Any and all reports regarding this are false.

Final 3: Duke, Virginia, Villanova.

Him committing to Duke might take them out of the Houstan and Bediako recruitments completely.

Was hoping we might be getting one more 5-star or two, pretty soon. But guess we may be going into another long wait. Hopefully successfully. But boy how wonderful it is to be in contention for elite talent in Basketball ?? And getting a player or two.
Thanks Oats.

Canada's prep basketball scene is blowing up. They're making a smart investment. Lots of international kids end up reclassifying too, so they can get a lot of one and done talent for two seasons.

Alabama offers what Georgia offered Anthony Edwards, the ball. He can develop and take control of the program. He feels the style of play fits him the most out of the four finalists.

Houstan feels he has improved the most on his ball handling and needs to continue to improve his athleticism and that his commitment date would come likely in December, before Christmas.

That's interesting that they say he thinks our style of play fits him the best. I'm starting to feel pretty good about this one. I also want Alabama basketball to have 4 Canadians and a Frenchman on the court at the same time for the 2021-2022 season. Because why not.

Well, why would he not pick us then?

Of course, he might not, but unless he just doesn't like the coaches, Bama seems like the obvious choice.

Do you think Michigan lands a top 30 player in the 2021 class (Houstan, Reid, Bediako, Holmgren, Hardy, Diabete, Hopkins)? If so, which player/players are most likely?

quote:

Possibly, but it isn’t a lock. Going through your list, Charles Bediako, Caleb Houstan and Efton Reid are the three that I’ve most consistently heard as being linked to the Wolverines. Based on their past few recruiting classes, I see a combo guy who can stretch the floor as a four like Houstan as the best fit and the one that may help the most. The Wolverines are in the top four there so, at a minimum, they have a swinger’s chance with the five-star and they should be in it to the end with Bediako and Reid as well.

quote:

What will KU’s roster look like after this season? Seems like we’re going to miss out on all of our guard targets, but will we need one?

quote:

I see a priority being put on an athletic big like five-star Daimion Collins, juco forward Langston Wilson or a playmaking guard like five-star Hunter Sallis.

quote:

Some schools like UNC have only a few viable targets and tough competition. Who are the guys you see attracting attention if UNC and others miss out on some of their targets this fall?

quote:

Look at UNC, if they miss on Hunter Sallis and need a ball handler, the options are going to be limited. I’m not saying that these are the guys they would go after, but if guys like TyTy Washington, Wade Taylor, Wesley Cardet and a few others wait around, they could see some new attention. Each of those guys already have high-level offers and are going to play in major conferences. But if there are spots, teams are going to take a look.

Less of a basketball culture than the other 3 finalists, Duke and UVA is particular. Also his path to the NBA is the 3&D route, and both Coach K and Tony Bennett have a good track record of developing those players. I think us and Michigan both play a more appealing style for a shooter though. I like our chances with him. If he wants to have the green light at all times then we are the place to get it.

I'd prefer him to go the G League route instead of us having to play against him. He was probably my favorite prospect in this entire class.
