Galin couldn’t make the team at Samford

I think that's a bit of a stretch there. But admittedly, I'm not too high on Galin either. He's a below average rebounder, only has one post move, and has cement feet. But I don't think he'll be forced out because of how thin we are at center. Giddens I think is for sure gone, and Hawkins & Fleming haven't played any college basketball. Even if we land Watford, he's a 4 and so is Reese. So I don't think Coach Oats wants to go into next year with only 2 centers who are both complete unknowns. Unless he wants to play real small a lot.

Now if you could talk Giddens into staying, then Galin wouldn't be necessary. I'd actually like that scenario better, because for all his faults, Giddens is still a better basketball player than Galin

I hate FOGs who are cheering for Auburn. Like No,frick that.

I think Auburn is gonna win the NC but Im gonna be cheering against them/trying to jinx them every step of the way.

No wonder Raymond Hawkins is so excited. This is an Instagram post from 2016 with him decked out in a Bama shirt. Guess he is Bandwagon FBall fan.

I didn't realize Reese was as big as he is.

Sizes according to the roster

Alex Reese - 6'9 238
Donta Hall - 6'9 230
Galin Smith - 6'9 245

I would SHOCKED if Vandy made that hire. At least when we hired Avery he had some success at the NBA level. Nored has never been a head coach for anything other than a D-league team. And he's only 29 years old. That would be riskiest hire I could ever remember for an SEC school.

I guess they're assuming he learned a lot under Brad Stevens at Butler. Stevens is an all-time great, but I wouldn't hold my breath on Nored being that. Vandy fans should riot if they do that

Final Four results sort of led me down a rabbit hole looking at some stats from this season. I was mainly looking at 3pt shooting because of how I thought it was the number 1 issue for Duke and Kentucky. Duke shoots them horribly and Kentucky doesn't shoot them enough (336 in the country in attempts). The teams they lost to are basically their complete opposites. Michigan State is 26th in the country in 3pt% and Auburn is 2nd in attempts. Here is some stuff that stood out to me (numbers are national rank):

3PT Attempts: Buffalo (9), Bama (193)
Assist/Turnover Ratio: Buffalo (17), Bama (275)
Assists Per Game: Buffalo (15), Bama (257)
FG% Defense:Buffalo (81), Bama (159)
FT Attempts: Buffalo (36), Bama (52)
OReb Per Game: Buffalo (22), Bama (84)
Scoring Offense: Buffalo (5), Bama (187)
Turnovers Forced: Buffalo (35), Bama (279)
KenPom AdjO: Buffalo (20), Bama (103)
KenPom AdjD:Buffalo (30), Bama (58)

So in other words, Buffalo would have kicked our arse. Surprise, surprise.

That guy Nored is originally from Homewood? He must be a rising star to have gotten some of the jobs and offers he already has at 29. Huge gamble for Vandy but maybe somebody sees something special about him.

Here's an article about our new recruit, Hawkins', life. I guess it kind of puts into perspective why he's so excited.

Not saying I’d like it, but I like it better than Dawkins.

Dawkins may be the coach in waiting at Duke.

No way this happens. With Billy D saying it's his dream job. They will have their pick of coaches when Coach K calls it quits.

Did Billy D say that? I figure folks will be hesitant to work in K's shadow.

Meh, I don't see ppl being scared to take that job. Much like some ppl think there will be hesitation to replace Saban but the Alabama football job has now become the best job in America. Duke's branding makes it easy to get the best players and coaches know they can win with great players...obviously.

Yeah, I think that whole "you don't want to be the one to replace a legend" rhetoric is bullshite. Maybe, in hindsight, after you fail to live up to expectations, you don't. But, when the job opens, and you think you can be the next legend, you jump at the chance.

Here's a really good story about Hodgson's upbringing and why he probably connects to some recruits so well LINK
