If we do land Bruner, he’ll be the best passing big we’ve ever had. The dude’s vision and passing accuracy is incredible. He looks like the collegiate version of Jokic. If he’s not the best passer on the team, I’d be shocked, but pleasantly surprised. I know JQ is supposed to be a good passer, but this kid’s passing is going to get him drafted. Passing is such an overlooked part of a big’s game. That and his defense would do wonders for us next year. Here’s over 6 minutes of passing highlights for you to drool over. LINK

Maybe Bruner will be able to do something with those perfectly setup lobs that Our bigs weren’t good enough to finish

Very good passer, he had a triple double last year with 11 rebs, 10 assists, and 14 points.

Was two assists away in a different game from having another one.

Good! I’m so fricking tired of seeing an aborted attempt at an alley oop from our misfit collection of bigs. If he can catch and flush, he’s a 100% improvement over what we’ve got.

So does Yale just play really slow? Because I keep trying to come up with a reason for why this dude only averaged 11 points and I can't. His all around game is pretty great.

Yeah they were 240 out of 353 teams in pace of play and he only averaged 9 shots a game.

Plus he doesn't force many bad shots if he is double teamed he is gonna find the open guy to pass it to which is why he averaged 4 assists per game.

His offensive numbers would go up a lot in our offense I assume.

Makes sense. Their front court was obviously the strongest part of their team from what I have seen, and that usually results in a slower pace. He's just a pretty impressive all around player, so it's kind of surprising to see a guy like that only take 9 shots per game. The more footage I am able to find the more I want the dude to pick us though. Can't blame him if he goes with the better program, but he is the kind of player that can really shine in an up tempo motion offense. We averaged 80+ last season playing with one hand tied behind our backs because of how profoundly awful our front court players were in terms of off ball movement and passing. Herb was our only real conduit for inside out ball movement, which is a really big deal in a motion offense because it's the easiest way to set up uncontested shots.

Yeah, what happened with that this year? We just kept forcing it and it was totally out of sync.

Donta Hall was absolutely amazing at this. I'm still trying to figure out what Avery's plan was going to be with the bigs he had setup for this past season.

Adam Zagoria just doubled down on his prediction and picked Bama again.

There wasn't one. Avery didn't have the first clue about how to build a roster or run a college basketball program. The closest thing he had to a plan, if you can even call it that, was to rely on Pettway to keep an elite PG on the roster every year to play hero ball. As far as having a system, identifying desired skills and physical traits to run that system, and successfully recruiting to that system though? frick no. The only way we were ever going to do anything with Avery is if we started paying enough money to become Kentucky Lite the way LSU has.

SOURCES: The @NCAA Division I Council will discuss the implementation of a one-time transfer waiver on April 24. The Council will not vote on it that day, but a vote IS expected to take place on May 20. Told the measure is expected to pass and would immediately apply. Stay tuned.

Potentially big news if we do get Muhammad

Hmmm, just last week the rumor was that it wouldn't apply until after next season. I wonder what changed.

Alabama was relatively quiet throughout the winter, but its hard work paid off in a major way in recent weeks. Sitting with a lone commitment of Keon Ambrose-Hylton heading into March, the Tide filled a number of holes, starting with the addition of Josh Primo. The four-star Canadian is a tremendous playmaker who can play arguably all three positions along the perimeter thanks to his size and shot-making prowess.

Speaking of which, Keon Ellis, one of the best shooters from the junior college ranks, joined Primo a week later. Alabama added to its collection of talent by landing Darius Miles on Tuesday. Miles is a long and slender forward that should complement Ambrose-Hylton in the frontcourt. Alabama remains in need of a transfer big man, but the Tide took a major step toward relevancy in the SEC - and even nationally - over the past four weeks.

Yeah, if we get Muhammad and he is eligible immediately to fill the backup PG role...that would be awesome.
