Yep we definitely will be upgraded at Foward with Ambrose, Gary, Rojas, and possibly Bruner and or Miles.

Ambrose and Gary probably could play the three spot or the four, so technically they could be counted as guard/forwards. Miles could be too if we get him, he even played PG some last season.

I think we upgraded at Guard.

Quinerly/Primo will start as a downgrade from Kira/Petty but I think will be an upgrade or at least even by time we get into conference play.

Singleton is an UPGRADE over Beetle because he won’t be a ball hog and will distribute, plus he can finish.

Herb/Shack will be upgrades over themselves.

Ellis can’t possibly be worse than Forbes.

These are my 100% Homer takes and if you don’t like it too fricking bad

Probably a downgrade. The only way it's an upgrade is if JQ and Primo play as well as Kira and Petty did last year, which would be a pretty tall task. Not impossible, but also not likely.

That said, if we add Bruner our front court will be so much better that we should be an overall much better team even if the guard play isn't quite as good.

We’ve essentially never seen four of them play basketball at this level, so it’s really hard to say.

Lots of potential though.

It’s a downgrade, but not by much. The difference this season will be the upgrade Gary, Rojas, Bruner, Javian getting better, and Ambrose give us at the big spots

There’s no doubt in my mind that I’m a better basketball player than Reese & Galin.

Right now: Downgrade in starters, upgrade in depth.

Definitely has the potential to be better, but a lot of that hinges on Shackelford’s progression and how good Quinerly actually is.

Quinerly and Primo were ranked higher coming out of HS than Kira and Petty, and of course rankings are wrong sometimes, but I think Primo will end up being a better all around player than Petty. He may not be better as a freshman than Petty was as a Jr., but by his Sophomore year he probably will be.

Quinerly and Kira are different kinds of players, Kira is probably gonna end up being the better all around player but Quinerly is an excellent passer and an underrated shooter, he should be a really good PG for us.

Ellis and Singleton would definitely be an upgrade over Beetle and Forbes and Herb and Shack should be better next year in their 2nd year in this system.

Plus Ambrose and Gary can play guard when needed as well so our depth should be better.

I'm very impressed that Oats was able to go out and get a 5 star transfer and a 5 star out of HS to replace Kira and Petty though, regardless of whether they end up being better or not, they should be very good replacements.

Quinerly was a 5 star coming out of High School.

Well, for one, we hope to get a full season of Herb being healthy. That alone is a plus. Quinerly won't be near the scorer Kira was, but probably will be a better facilitator. Shack became much more reliable in the paint down the stretch, so his progression in year two should be fun to watch. With Primo, I think he'll have better handles and won't be as streaky, but Petty was really good on the boards.

Like others have said - the depth and inside game is where this team improves.

Yeah those were the two biggest issues last year for sure.

Kira is gonna be hard to replace, I think he was a bit underappreciated this year by part of the fanbase. Production wise he was a top PG in college basketball this year, especially the second half of the season. He had a better season statistically than Anthony Edwards.

Quinerly should be solid though, he is more of your old school pass first point guard, but he can score pretty well too. Him sitting out last year and practicing with the team and learning the offense should help a lot. The practice highlights I've seen of him were really good. He is an underrated scorer.

Yeah me too til we get Ellis and another good guard I'm pretty nervous actually. We need guards bad, right now on paper we have Quinerly, Primo, Shack, Herb, and Forbes, and while that's a solid foundation, we need at least two more good guards for sure.

I have faith in Oats as a recruiter though that will all the good guards out there in the transfer portal he will be able to get at least a couple more good ones.

I really hope we get Ellis, I think he would be a perfect fit, really good shooter, good defender, very athletic. He is number 1 on the wishlist for guards we are in on right now.

It’s real simple: to beat Alabama 2020, contain Lewis and to a lesser extent, Petty and ignore the guys in the paint. Mission accomplished.

To beat Alabama 2021, you’d better be prepared to defend the entire floor.
