Embracing the moment along with skill, size and athleticism has turned Sallis into one of the hottest recruits in the country as programs like Alabama, Arkansas, California, Creighton, Gonzaga, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Marquette, Missouri, Nebraska and Oregon among the many that have already offered the versatile junior.

"I feel like I'm a combo guard," said Sallis. "Whatever a college needs me to play I'm good with it. If they need me to be on ball that's fine, if they need me off that's fine too. I feel like I'm versatile enough to play both positions."

Will Shaver still had a nice impact today in a win over Sparkman despite foul trouble. His huge body paired with inside touch with both hands and passing ability is hard to stop down low. He is active as a rim protector and has good timing when contesting shots.

I don't remember who it was but someone earlier in this thread a couple of weeks ago was saying that Oats wouldn't be able to win here getting transfers and Jucos like he did at Buffalo.

Whoever that was should look at Baylor who is currently 23 and 1 ranked number 1 in the country.

These are 4 of their top 6 players

Devonte Bandoo - Juco
Macio Teague - Transfer from UNC Ashville
Davion Mitchell - Transfer from Auburn
Freddie Gillespee - Juco

The only player on their team they signed out of HS who was a top 100 recruit is of course Jared Butler who was ranked 97th in his class by 247. I hope we can get some highly ranked HS kids and think we will be able to, but that's beside the point.

The assumption that you can't win at a major conference school with transfers and jucos is wrong.

It's not just Alabama it's everywhere. Jared Harper left Auburn as a JR last year and went undrafted. He has been killing it in the G league though.

Especially in basketball. One more season of development can often mean the difference between being a 3rd round pick and a 1st round pick in football. In basketball one more season almost never makes the difference between being destined for a career overseas and being a 1st round pick.

There are plenty of players who return to college every year and improve their draft stock.

Petty could definitely improve his draft stock by coming back next year if he continues to improve on defense and handling the ball, so could Herb if he develops a jump shot.

Some reach their ceiling before they get to their Sr season and might as well leave then such as Jared Harper.

I definitely think Petty and Herb can improve their draft stock with another year here.
Herb needs more seasoning with his shot, free throw shooting and ball handling.
Petty needs to improve his passing and ball handling.
With Oats good mentoring being a bonus.

From 2nd round pick to 1st round pick maybe. I'm talking about guys who are, after 3 years of college ball, not even considered potential NBA prospects. It's extremely rare for a player like that to blossom as a senior and become draftable. Usually the late bloomers bloom as high school seniors or college freshmen/sophomores.

I think Herb has a lot more to gain from another year of college than Petty. He doesn't have to become a great 3pt shooter but he needs to live in the gym until he is at least an adequate 3pt shooter. That would give him a chance in the NBA at least because everything else he does on offense has really come around over the course of this season.

Petty has a 3&D skill set without the kind of length NBA teams want from those kind of players. He isn't going to suddenly grow 2-3 inches, so his only means of significantly improving his draft stock is showing an ability to attack the rim off the dribble, which to me is far less likely to happen than Herb making ~35% of his 3s next season.

Josh Primo will reclassify to 2020 and enroll in college this summer, he tells ESPN. This move makes him NBA Draft eligible in 2021. Primo was the top NBA prospect at this weekend's Basketball Without Borders camp.

I would say that if there was a list of early favorites for JD Davison that Alabama would be on it. There are no signs that he is anywhere near a college decision, but the Tide have done a great job of prioritizing him since the hiring of Nate Oats last spring. That is not to say they are the team to beat, though, and if there is a program in an even better spot, it is Memphis. The Tigers have been in to see Davison a handful of times throughout the high school season and it would seem that he is heavily interested in what the program has to offer.

It is not just a two-horse race, however, as Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State and Ole Miss are a few of the other programs involved. But Alabama and Memphis are the two to beat as his final travel season approaches.

Well, that’s huge. I’d be pretty shocked if we weren’t his choice. Maybe they can convince Bediako to give Bama a shot.

Would be a kick in the nuts if he chose Creighton.

Yeah it would be. Primo is the perfect 2/3 type guy for this offense.

Four-star guard Joshua Primo has reclassified into the 2020 class, he told @Stockrisers. Lists Alabama and Creighton as potential finalists. Also says, he might randomly just commit, has no date.

Candian guard and one of the nation’s top scorers, Joshua Primo, tells Stockrisers.com that he will move into the 2020 class from the 2021 class.

“The thought of going 2020 has always been intriguing to me ever since doing the World Cup last year. I’ve been playing up all my life and I find that I raise my level of play as I meet better competition,” Primo told Stockrisers.com. The talks heated up recently but became even more realistic when he put on a show at the recent Basketball Without Borders event where he shot lights out.

As far as a timetable, it will come soon. Finalists are yet to be made but he says right now Alabama and Creighton are at the top of his list but nothing is ‘totally sure’ just yet.

Primo is now a 5 star and the 27th ranked player overall after adjusting his ranking for the 2020 class and after his performance at basketball without borders according to 247.
