Ah, didn’t see that.

As Bediako mentioned, his recruiting process took off in the fall, adding a host of scholarship offers. Right now his offers include Duke, Baylor, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan State, Ohio State, Louisville, Alabama and TCU. Bediako said two schools have prioritized him.
“Pretty much all the schools have said that, but Maryland has said that a lot, and Memphis,” he said when asked who was recruiting him the hardest. What are those schools doing differently?

And while i agree with you we cant replace him with nothing. If Rojas is the real deal i could maybe see it.

Just adding the size or Rojas, Gary, and Ambrose next year should help our rebounding a lot. Ambrose is a very good rebounder. Gary isn't that tall, is 6'5, same as Petty but he is built, he is 30 pounds bigger than Petty and was a solid rebounder in HS.

We would be replacing him with a grad transfer. A lot is going to depend on what is available in that regard. You never really know until the end of the season.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Petty left. He was projected to be drafted by the new ESPN mock draft and he has talked about making money playing basketball for his daughter.

Nobody leaving surprises me in basketball. If you truly want to make money then there are tons of places for talented players to go make really, really good money. And, if you go to Europe or Israel or the G-League and develop and improve, you absolutely can end up in the NBA.
So - unless you really want to stay in school (which some guys do and that is great), then it makes sense for a lot of guys to leave. Especially after they've been in school for 2-3 years.
A guy like Petty definitely falls in that bucket, IMHO.

I get what you're saying and agree, depends on his financial situation. Your best path to the NBA is getting drafted in the top 40 picks, you do that you usually avoid the G league stint, which is hit or miss, a lot of players dominate the G league and don't ever get called up.
I have seen him listed as a top 40 pick in some 2021 mock drafts already and think he could absolutely be drafted in the top 40 if he comes back next year and plays like he is capable. That would be his best bet unless he is hurting for money which he may be idk, I know he has a daughter.
I assume he will be back though, I haven't heard anything different.

Yea - I definitely think he has room to grow and have a huge senior season next year. He's gotten better every year, and this year he's really shown his complete game. Another year where we are all totally comfortable with the system, has a PG who distributes like JG and another 3PT threat like Shackelford and he'd have a real chance to put together an all-around year that might get him that guaranteed 1st round contract.
It'll be an interesting decision for him, and one that (like you said) will end up coming down to how much money right now matters to him. Either way he will make enough, but the upside to staying and being a Top 40 pick is legitimate for him.
And, with a little girl that he clearly cares for and loves a lot, I'm guessing that he is hesitant to go to overseas immediately (where the best non-NBA money is).

They have him listed at 56th which is the highest I've seen him, there are only 60 picks in the NBA draft, odds are he would go undrafted. Would be a pretty risky move by him when he could come back for his senior season and almost certainly be a top 40 pick if he keeps improving. It's possible he leaves, depends on his money situation, but it wouldn't be smart.

I just hate that it's Creighton that it looks like we're up against. They are dirty and currently under NCAA investigation and won't even admit that they are under investigation.

They're also a mid-major. They'll have to pay a lot to offset that.
Nevermind...forgot they joined the Big East.

Plenty of dirty programs out there, we are swimming with sharks. Bediako mentioning Mempshit and Maryland gives me heart burn.

They are in the big east, they are having a good year too. They are 19 and 6 and currently ranked 15th.
It's not a lock that he picks us over them, I feel pretty good about it though. I'd give us a 70% chance if I had to guess.
Us getting two CB's for him today is a good sign.

As far as his recruitment, Branham has several options to choose from. “Louisville, Michigan, Florida, Purdue, Ohio State, Mizzou, Xavier, Marquette, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Iowa, and Alabama, have all been in contact.” One of the newer schools on this list is Michigan. Branham says they started to reach out more after Saddi Washington watched him at Flyin’ To The Hoop.
He also says that he’s been talking to all the schools on planning visits to see a game before the college season ends. Branham told Stockrisers.com that he will visit Louisville for their matchup with North Carolina this weekend. In addition, he says that he will also get to Ohio State prior to the end of this month.

Said he would visit within a couple weeks. Talks to Hodgson the most. Likes the uptempo style of play and will nake a decision a couple weeks after nationals.
