Maybe he'll see that Memphis just lost to a god awful USF team at home and won't go.

I remember us having a favorable draw that year we were the two seed then Gottfried pulled a Bama basketball and got blown out by Kent State. That was a good team and we didn’t even make it through the first weekend. I think Kent State did make the Elite 8 that year though

That elite 8 run was in spite of Gottfired. Tom Ashbury was instrumental. The commentary was that we played like an ACC team and not trying to run that garbage Mark called UCLA high post offense.

I really want Ellis as they say elite shooting ability and very good on defense, also really athletic, would probably be the best dunker on our team as well.

We really need some more guys with this ability. I feel like one of the reasons we suddenly find ourselves missing so many point blank shots is the general lack of bounciness on our roster. There is no one on this team like Donta Hall or Tony Mitchell who can put down a frick you dunk and either shut up an away crowd or get the home crowd really into it.

Alex Reese with his injured hip may be our 2nd best dunker aside from Herb. That’s saying something lol.

Alabama offered on Wednesday and, in addition to USF, Ellis listed Iowa State, Kansas State, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Murray State, East Tennessee State, Middle Tennessee State, Fresno State, SMU, St. John’s, Western Kentucky, Portland, Tulsa, Cincinnati, FAU and FIU as schools that that he has been “talking to as of late.”
Still, with no visits taken and more offers sure to come, Ellis is far from choosing a school. For now, the explosive wing is mainly focusing on his season but but he might squeeze in an official visit next weekend.
“I think Alabama is trying to get a visit set up for the 15th of this month,” Ellis said. “I'm pretty open to all the schools that are talking to me. I won’t probably make a (transfer) decision or any cuts until after the season to see where I'm going to go visit and where I could fit in. So, yeah, I'm pretty open to all of the schools that are talking to me.”

Out of that entire list, we absolutely should be able to land him.

Hope so, looks like a pretty good fit for us.

Crean and UGA might give us a little competition, But I think we are a better destination than that entire list.

Chandler Jackson is a 6-foot-3 combo guard from Memphis, Tennessee and he leads a national recruitment midway through his sophomore year.
“The schools that are recruiting me the hardest right now are Auburn, Vanderbilt, Alabama, but Florida State they are interested in me as well,” he told Stockrisers.com
Jackson most recently took an unofficial visit to Auburn for their insane victory over SEC opponent, the LSU Tigers.
In addition, Jackson says that he just planned an unofficial visit to Vanderbilt on the 22nd of this month for the Commodores’ matchup with Georgia.

On paper we only have one open spot in the class and he filled that with Ambrose, I think the recruiting of Ellis may be anticipatory on him thinking Kira or Galin is going to leave. Galin will be a senior next year and I don't think he will get much PT here so he will probably grad transfer to a smaller school where he can maybe start.
If Kira and Galin both leave and we get Ellis in one of their spots, then I think the other open spot he would probably go after the best grad transfer he can get, maybe even a really good regular transfer that would have to sit out a year like Quinerly did. Not sure what position transfer they would go after, probably depends on what is out there.
I don't think we lose Hawkins, he is a good fit for this system, Oats personally signed him because he is a good fit. He is way more athletic than Davis or Reese while being around the same size. Not sure what his issue is this year but I expect him get a lot of minutes next season.

I think Hawkins will be here next year too, but I’m not sure I expect him to get “a lot” of minutes.

We are losing so many people after next year, wouldn't be a bad idea to go after a transfer guard that would have to sit out 2021 then be eligible in 2022. Or either get a couple of guards from the Juco route that will still have two years of eligibility left.

We should have more depth next year than we have had in a while. We lose so many guards after next year though
Kira will almost certainly be gone, Petty, Herb, we will probably need some immediate help via the transfer or Juco market. Hopefully that helps up with JD Davsion too, he could come in and get 30+ minutes a game right away.
Should still have a solid core with Qunierly and Shack but we need way more guards than that to play this system. Hopefully Forbes turns out to be pretty good. Getting Ellis would help a lot too.

Apparently we went and visited Josh Primo last week.
I wish we had someone that would cover our recruiting a little better.

Would love yo get him. Looks like Auburn, Ohio State, Oregon and us are his best offers so far. Appears we have a chance.
He visited here with Ambrose not too long ago.
