I'm not trying to be argumentative or be a dick, but again, that did/does nothing to help the program. Being a bust obviously only hurts the program. A player like Pollard or Lacey turning out to be a pretty good player for another program is just as bad or worse imo. It essentially becomes a recruiting spot that we wasted on someone that didn't really help the program.
Now that i've bitched and complained enough over my last three posts, I fully admit that i'm a star gazer when it comes to recruiting. I'm just reminding myself, and anyone else that wants or needs to hear it, that recruiting ranking don't always pan out. Bediako is a top 40 player in the 2021 class, so I 100% hope we get him.
I understand what you're saying and fully agree it's all about helping the program. I simply thought it worth mentioning because those weren't evaluation errors. They were good players. The failure was somewhere further down the line.

Alabama has announced that they received the NLI for Keon Ambrose-Hylton. He’s currently ranked 79th overall in the country by @247Sports.
At 6-foot-8, Ambrose-Hylton is a very versatile prospect who’s absolutely terrific in transition. Big fan of the pickup by Nate Oats.

Alabama coach Nate Oats indicated that UA would like to sign two more players — an inside 4/5 player and a combo guard — in the late signing period. Said those players “could come from anywhere. We are looking all over.”

Oats: "We are not done recruiting 2020." Also said that there are few more Canadians that Ambrose-Hylton knows that they are going to go after.

Oats ain't too subtle.
Wouldn't mind seeing Bama having a Canuck pipeline. Isht, we need to be looking international whenever we can.

He's a gym rat that brings his lunch pail. Great fundmanetals.

I assume he is referring to Bediako as the inside 4/5, but what combo guards have we been talking to? Burnett is the only one I recall and obviously that was a whiff.

Yeah, Bediako and Mane are the two imo. Both were teammates with KAH on the Canadian team.

I'll take him. His tape looks good.

“We only have one senior, so essentially there’s one scholarship,” Oats said. “We all know in today’s game, there’s going to be more than that. We’re not done recruiting in 2020. We were going after multiple guys, missed on a few. Really happy with Keon. We put a lot of emphasis on him. There’s a few more Canadians that Keon knows well, and with recruiting now, some guys team up on a team. We’re going to go after some more guys in 2020.”
“Ideally, we get an athletic big to kind of complement what we’ve got, and then ideally, we get another combo guard/point guard, maybe,” Oats said. “We anticipate that Kira may be good enough to go to the draft after the year, or even if not, the way we play, as spread out as we are, we can play four guards. We’re playing four guards right now. … So, if we can get another guard that can pass, dribble and shoot, do all three at a high level, that would be ideal, because the way we play, we need skill players. So, that’s what we’re going to be looking for.
“We’ve gone really all in, especially (Antoine) Pettway and Charlie (Henry), on the 2021 class because Bryan (Hodgson) had the 2020 recruits. It’s just the way it shook out. That’s a huge class for us, so we’re spending a lot of time on 2021s, but we’re not done in 2020. We’d like to sign a couple guys late, one or two late depending on what happens with the roster and everything.”
“With the way it is now, some of your best players that you may get for next year may not be in the high school ranks,” Oats said. “They may be a kid that’s playing somewhere else, puts his name in the portal, grad transfers, the coach gets fired, whatever it is. You look across the board, the Preseason Player of the Year in the SEC is a kid that grad transferred. So, that’s definitely out there. It’s hard to predict that stuff this early.
“We’re fine. We’ve got one senior, signed one to replace him. As we figure this year out, who’s maybe going to leave, can Kira go, all that, we’ll figure that out. Grad transfers, JUCO -- we were really successful in junior college kids at Buffalo. We’ve got our eye on some of them.
“Transfer, JUCO, kids late, we’re going to be all over it. But in the meantime, we’re going to spend a lot of time on 2021s. At this level, we got on all those 2020 kids late when we got the job in March. A lot of those had been recruited by other programs for a long time. So, we’ve got to get in early with the 2021 kids. We’re focusing on them both right now.”
