Oats on the three point line moving back

That was Oats responding to the shotclock resetting to just 20 seconds on an offensive rebound of a shot hitting the rim. Like that change big time.

Thanks. Cecil didn’t give much context and I didn’t read carefully enough.

“If we have shooters, it’s great for the way we play because now you spread … it’s great,” Oats said, “At Alabama, you actually have the 3-point line down on the floor with the regular markings. At Buffalo, we taped it down and tried to get guys to space to the NBA three as much as possible.”

quote:

“But, like I said,” Oats said, “if you can’t shoot from out there, it doesn’t matter. Your offense spaces and the defense stays in and you don’t space anything. If you can recruit shooters or develop shooters, work on it and space them ever further out and we go off the dribble … you know it’s not a big difference. You’re not going out to the NBA three.”

quote:

“If you don’t make the defense come out of the lane -- like the NBA has three seconds in the lane on defense -- if you don’t do that in college, they’ll be sitting in the middle of the lane all game,” Oats said. “Which is fine, you play the way the rules are. I actually like them moving the 3-point line back a little bit.”

Nate Oats talked today about the new NCAA rules, the roster and transfer @RealJahvonQ . Also said he hoped the 2019-2020 schedule was “close” to completion

quote:

IN TEAM news, Oats confirmed that Alabama was now at a full roster of 13 players for the upcoming season with the addition of Villanova transfer Javohn Quinerly. “We’re set,” he said. “We are just waiting to see about Javohn’s waiver as to whether he can play this year or not.” Oats did not comment directly on the specifics of Quinerly’s request for a waiver of a year in residency, stating only “we think he has a good case.” Sources have told Tidesports.com that the Quinerly family has based its hardship claim on what the Quinerlys say are false reports regarding Quinerly’s recruitment by Arizona assistant coach Book Richardson. The Quinerly appeal is expected to argue that no violation occurred in the recruitment but the matter created a negative environment that affected Quinerly’s play as a freshman at Villanova.

I hope he gets the waiver, I feel like it's really unlikely though. Even if he doesn't I think we will be ok, will mean Shackleford and Forbes will have to play a lot.

Which players do ya'll think play the most minutes this year?

IMO

1.Kira
2.Bolden
3.Petty
4.Rojas
5.Quinerly
6.Reese
7.Jones
8.Smith
9.Gary
10.Shackelford

I think all these guys play 10+ mintes a game, to play as fast as Oats likes to you have to have a pretty big rotation.

This is of course if Quinerly is eligible. If he isn;t then I think Shackelford will probably get the 5th most minutes and forbes 10th most.

Just rewatched the Norfolk State game because it had the new 3pt line in it and I think its gonna help us. You really couldnt tell the difference shooting wise and in fact Reese and Petty shot the 3 well that game.

Also I think it gives way more spacing and that will allow Kira,Beetle,Herb, and Jahvon to get to the rim easier.

I think Oats has extended an offer to a Juco guy named Jay Scrubb.

Scrubb is a heavy Louisville lean, doubt we have a shot.

I would put Rojas a little higher, maybe #2 especially if Quinerly plays this next season. And Petty at #3. Probably switch Smith and Reese.
