We really do have the talent. Would’ve been in it last year if we had recruited a true backup PG instead of the coach letting his son play so much.
Even with that plus the bad coaching we were the first team out.

Shoot, I helped someone like Daniel Giddens, a great kid,” Oats said. “I helped him. Some guys left on good terms and some didn’t. But that’s decisions they make as young men. Some of them were smart decisions. They’ll have better playing time elsewhere where ever they want. Diante Wood, I think will get a lot more playing time and Daniel Giddens will. Those two kept participating in workouts even after we discussed that it might be better for them to go elsewhere and they thought so to.”

Oats “optimistic” about UA basketball; Mack enters transfer portal
quote:
“We have a lot of players that fit into the way we like to play. You look at Herb Jones in transition. Kira Lewis is one of the fastest point guards in the country. John Petty can definitely shoot and you need shooters to spread the floor. Alex Reese is a big kid who can shoot. Galin Smith can defend and rebounds and he is a tough kid. And we think we added some good players in the late period.”

I look forward to Saban&Bear's rebuttal.

Oats said Alabama still had three openings on its 2019-2020 schedule. “We hope to get those worked out in the next few weeks and then we will announce the schedule,” he said.

That answered several questions about the players he likes or didnt think were a fit for his style.

Was just fixing to post that . We know who was asked to leave now

I’m not surprised at all with which players left on good terms and which left on bad terms. Diante and Giddens never seemed like bad guys and just needed to play at a smaller school. But of course Dazon and Mack are the ones who leave with a problem. We already know how Dazon is and knew he was gonna leave and Mack was a problem maker at Texas getting in fights in the locker room and trying to fight Shaka. It is what it is. At least it worked out for everyone in the end

Mack was a good player but nothing great. He trying to chase a ring lol. He will end up at a better school than Dazon but not much better.

Oh, right, I forgot. As soon as players decide to go elsewhere, we look for, or make up, character flaws to justify being ok with it.
Nothing made up about it. He's a good shooter. He also likes the weed, though.

Whaaaat?! Huhhhh!? Whaaaaat? I’m shocked Oats decided to talk up our players in a public interview!
I thought he would admit the bad players are bad and publicly humiliate the players and their families, while at the same time having future recruits not give us a chance because of Oats past of publicly bashing players.
That’s a bold strategy, Cotton.

I'm honestly surprised he didn't mention what Kira Lewis expected from those players.

Missouri and Vandy as our 2 extra Home and Away opponents?? Not a fan.
Auburn draws UK twice again....plus UT. I honestly think they are a bubble team this year after losing Harper,Brown, and Chuma.

Really Favorable home schedule, away schedule is pretty tough, would've much rather had UF and UK at home. I could see us winning every home game. I think the SEC will be down a bit from what it was last year. I predict an 11 and 6 conference record.

With the conference being weaker this year I hope we have some good OOC games, preferable at home. I think probably only 5 or so SEC teams get in this year.
