No, not a deal. That’s my problem with it. I don’t care what you believe or don’t believe, if you insist on ridiculing it, you are provoking an argument whether it’s religion or politics or any other closely held personal belief. If you insist on being inflammatory, I will insist on taking exception to it. If you can’t make a statement without ridiculing someone’s beliefs and by extension, the person, then don’t say anything at all. It’s not necessary, it’s petty, and an intellectually superior person should be above such childish behavior.

My proposal: you refrain from ridiculing anyone’s closely held beliefs, just keep that to yourself, and we just stick to basketball.

Well, then I guess you're just going to be very disappointed. Treating nonsense as though it were above reproach is why people go on believing nonsense for eternity.

Now that we know where everyone stands, let's get back on topic.

At one point in time, thinking the sun was the center of the solar system or that the earth was a sphere was considered nonsense too. So you can keep the intellectual arrogance to yourself as well.

It's a good thing someone challenged that belief and we moved on.

But, seriously, this is a good thread. Let's get back on topic. I'm depending on y'all to do that, because I have difficulty not shooting down your replies.

So, BASKETBALL...

So is anybody able to answer my question a couple of pages back about Trendon and committing late?

I thought the signing period ended tomorrow.

Why do they use Flying Spaghetti Monster when they insult someone's belief in God? It seems like a popular term.

The least we can do is come up with one for atheists, it seems only fair after all. I like the sound of Hellbound Heathen...

I don't know how it works. All I know is I've heard the 15th isn't a cut off date. They can sign after that.

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is an actual religion. There are Pastafarians around the globe. I'd link to the actual website, but it's blocked at work.

Last day to sign a binding LOI is the 15th, however he can sign scholarship papers and enroll wherever and whenever he wants.

Why am I not surprised? Looking at the link it's an insult.

Ok, so serious question:

What is going to happen with Will Wade? Surely the NCAA HAS to step in? It was just last year that they claimed they were going to clean up college basketball. Now the guy is on tape, talking about paying players. If they let him skate, or pretend there's no evidence, they might as well just send out a letter saying it's ok to buy recruits.

Believe or don’t believe what you want. There’s no need to provoke a religion debate unnecessarily on a basketball thread. And then act like other posters are trying to start what you already started.

Well said.

If they do nothing, then NCAA basketball will become a meat market with no restrictions other than scholarship numbers. I think some have already looked around and decided it’s open season and threw caution to the wind. Yeah, I’m talking about you, Penny! He should change his nickname to Dollars.

They’d better get a handle on this quick or there will be chaos.

You notice Michigan folks are mentioning White at Florida but Wade's name hasn't come up for any job and they just had a great season

Exactly. There are a few teams that need crippling sanctions and if they don't get hit hard, then schools will realize that it's worth the risk

Also, if Watford wants to sign by the 15th, all he has to do is sign privately and then announce his commitment publicly on the 20th

One of the talking head guru's said it will likely come down to whether the FBI will turn over any of their evidence to the ncaa. He also said he doubts that Dawkins will help the ncaa, because it wont benefit him to help them. Seems rational. Surely they will investigate- just based on court testimony.

Dont know if this has been asked and im not going back and looking through 3 pages of dumbass arguments over religion.

But if he doesnt sign a LOI does that make it easier for him to get out of LSU if sanctions do come down??

Watford is just seeking attention. He announced earlier that his commitment was open to the public. Now he tweeted that it’s NOT open to the public and you have to DM him on twitter or Instagram if you want to be added to the guest list.

What it is, is he doesn’t want a public commitment bc then the entire gym will be filled with Bama fans. He doesn’t wanna take a chance of being boo’d when he picks LSU

I think that’s right. He wouldn’t be bound to LSU by a LOI then
