Well it’s either us or LSU, that’s for sure. Memphis has better options and Indiana was just on the list bc of his brother. But like I’ve said before, I’d bet everything I have he’s going to LSU

If he were to commit to Bama, wouldn't he have done it by now? Seems like we caught a lot of momentum early on when Oats hit the recruiting trail. Nothing we've seen or heard lately would indicate he's coming here.

Not the end of the world either. Got a solid class and team coming back next year. Now we just have wait 1000 years for the season to get here.

You guys know better than me. I’m probably dead wrong but I still think we’re in it. Part of it is due to Memphis filling up and LSU being in such poor shape.

But it’s not just that either. He has said that relationships are important and he is close with Herb. I also think he has a strong rapport with Pettway. He has been to campus numerous times and seems to at least be a fan of the university. I’m also encouraged that Cecil is retweeting his “soon” tweet. There was talk a year or so ago about him being close with Kira too. Basically what I heard was if Kira comes then you can count on Watford too but that was before Kira reclassified.

I’m not going to melt if he chooses LSU or Memphis. I will be somewhat surprised though. To me the situation is perfect for him to step in, start as a freshman, and not have to be the focal point of the offense. He should be in a position to draw attention from the scouts in year two if not sooner.

If it were based on strictly where he wants to play, I think we would’ve closed on him a long time ago. As recent as last year he openly cheered on our basketball team. Two seasons ago, I supplied him with an illegal link to watch one of our games against a nobody because he was dying to watch the game.

Money changes things though.

Looks like Juwan Gary is moving to Tuscaloosa on May 27.

Yeah I noticed he brought up Galin. I guess that means if Cole hops on board Javian is odd man out.

I'd agree with all that, but I think 247 now has him 87% LSU and 13% Memphis. I've been saying I think we're still in it all along, but even I feel pretty pessimistic with those numbers.

That said, I really don't know how anybody with a functioning brain would sign with LSU right now. Too risky, in my opinion.

I mean, if Wade is throwing around $300k signing bonuses then I'm not so sure about that. Who suffers if shite goes sideways? Not the player. He may be ruled ineligible, but he can just declare for the draft or go overseas. He won't lose that $300k though.

I’m one of the biggest Bama basketball fans out there, but if another school offered me 300K to play for them, I’d have to seriously consider that. For a college kid, that’s a life changing amount of money. Will get him by until he gets to the NBA

Well, firstly, I have to think that $300K is bullshite. I have no doubt players are getting paid, but that amount just doesn't seem realistic. But, if they're getting paid those kinds of sums, or anything remotely close, then everybody is doing it.

Secondly, sure, he can bail out if Wade gets fired. But, at that point the smooth transition from great high school year, to a couple of great college years on a good team, to NBA draft is fricked up. He's going to have baggage. He's going to be on a team that is in chaos with no coach. He'll have to transfer to some college willing to ignore the baggage (realistically, that probably won't hold most schools back). He's not a one and done type player, in my opinion. I doubt he wants to go play for some team in Greece. It's just a fricked up situation at that point.

I understand what you're saying. I just don't think he's getting $300K and I wouldn't want the clusterfrick of signing with a coach that has a great chance of getting canned and tarnishing my reputation in the process.

.@Trendon_2 ‘s dad tells me they’re still considering Alabama, Indiana, LSU and Memphis and there’s no timetable on a decision. The signing period ends May 15 but you can always enroll after that.

My theory is he’s LSU bound, but he’s gonna drag this out as long as possible to make sure Wade isn’t fired. If Wade is fired and Memphis doesn’t want him bc they have better options, then he’ll come here

It was the deal Wade had for Naz Reid in the FBI trial. I have no doubt schools are paying money, I highly doubt there are many paying 300k for kids outside of the top 5.

It was the deal reported. Wade is obviously a cheating mofo, but if he paid $300K for Naz Reid he's a dumb, cheating mofo. I know what was said in the trial, but I have to think something was off. Maybe they dealt in pesos or something.

Not if you think about it. 300k is a lot of money if it’s all going to the player but it’s usually not. The handlers get a cut, player gets a cut, high school coach or AAU coach maybe, family might get some. In the end, you may be talking about $75k of the original $300. A lot of money, but a lot less than $300k.

Id rather us just move on from Watford. I like Rojas,I think he is a solid player.

Trendon is a good player but I dont think he is a program changer like some Bama fans claim. I dont think he makes our team marginally better.

I was saying 2 months ago I didn't want Watford at Bama. Bad vibes only around his recruitment.

Seems like a nice, respectful kid. I'm not going to turn down a 5*, top 20 type player because of some "bad vibes." If he wants to play at Bama, sign him up.
