Aren't grad transfers usually looking to go somewhere they can start?

some of you bb goobers tell me our starting 5 and first 3 off the bench should we get Watford. And assuming the other two in the portal stay gone.

Too hard to list who would be the top 8 in the rotation. But IF we get Watford & add Bolden (I think we will), then I really like our roster.

1.Kira Lewis/James Bolden
2.John Petty/Jaden Shackleford/Jaylen Forbes/Diante Wood
3.Herb Jones/Juwan Gary
4.Trendon Watford/Tevin Mack
5.Alex Reese/Raymond Hawkins/*Galin Smith or Fleming*(one of them is gone possibly both)

I like that group. And there's a lot of flexibility. Shackleford can play PG at times if needed, and Petty can slide to the 3 to have more shooters on the floor, and Reese can play the 4 or 5.

unless Herb gets his outside shot down and his TO prone self under control I see him coming off the bench. He was good for rebounds and that was it. And yes I know he had a good game or two on the scoring side but they were slim and few

Yeah, if you look at his picture, Dazon is in the background. Kind of funny.

I’d say Fleming is definitely gone and Smith probably. We need the room and they aren’t great fits for what Oats wants to do. And like somebody said, Reese can be added depth at the 5 if needed. I like that roster too. If Oats can coach em up, we should be very competitive in the league.

^ Rankings based on the recruiting site (ESPN/Rivals/247) that gave the player his highest rating.

Do you guys think this roster is more talented than the 2017/2018 Collin Sexton Roster that made the tournament?

PG: Collin Sexton/Avery Johnson Jr.
SG: John Petty/Ar’Mond Davis
SF: Dazon Ingram/Herbert Jones
PF: Braxton Key/Alex Reese
C: Donta Hall/Daniel Giddens/Galin Smith

Which roster you got, 2017/2018 or 2019/2020?

I don't know if he will start or not, but him & Juwan Gary are the only two guys on the roster that I would call natural small forwards/3's. That's the only reason I listed them as such. And we're not sure exactly what Gary will provide and that's why I put Herb ahead of him

I may be totally wrong on this one and bookmark this post so you can rub my nose in it but I think you will see a different Herb Jones under Oats and he will blossom into a very competent contributor on this team.

I think so too. He can be better than what he showed last season. He hasn't developed (thanks Avery) nearly as much as we all thought/hoped he would. But there's a reason some NBA scouts had him listed as a potential 1st round pick before this year. The raw talent & athleticism is there.

I mentioned we had Kira Lewis in the bag the other day. I know many many of the same people when it comes to Kira and Petty.

Now, from that relationship, I have another piece of info.

Was told “Kira and Watford are synced up if you know what I mean”

Once again, I’m not an insider. You don’t have to make a special post dogging me out saying I’m not an insider, because I’m not one. Living in the Meridianville area gave me the info on Kira and Petty, then the Kira inside track got me Watford info.

But yes, Watford will commit to Alabama.

If nothing else, I think this style of offense works for Jones. Keep it moving and take the open 3, doesn't put so much pressure on him to literally be our second ball handler.

Any roster with Jr on it becomes invalid. So it's an easy choice

Oats has been praising Herb from day one. He's not coming off the bench.

Only one McD All-American in the Title Game.....

quote:

Monday’s NCAA men’s final between Virginia and Texas Tech will be a matchup of similarly defensive-minded teams that are each making the first national championship game appearance in program history. And in the age of big programs chasing one-and-done recruits, neither the Red Raiders nor the Cavaliers are a recruiting powerhouse: In the Final Four, the two stronger recruiting teams — Michigan State and Auburn — fell to the two weaker ones. While some of that was luck (looking at you, Virginia), it was also a testament to the coaching jobs that Chris Beard and Tony Bennett have done to build these championship contenders.

Me too. I was excited to get started in Collin's year, but that faded pretty quickly. I'm even more excited for next season. This the first time I've completely ignored spring football.
