I'm happy for him. Pissed it didn't work out here and wonder what went wrong. My personal opinion is when shite was falling apart and the fan were getting salty with his lack of offense, he sort of gave up and was ready to move on.

Alabama's not beating Kentucky.
We have been Kentucky's tournament bitch for the better part of almost two decades running now

Galin gives effort and hustle, he is just not quite talented enough.

I feel like Reese was most likely on the other end of that.

Yeah they are complete opposites. Galin gives everything he’s got but he has physical limitations and doesn’t fit Oats system. Reese is physically gifted and is a perfect fit for this system. But you can just look at him and tell and he’s lazy as hell.

This is why I don’t think it’s a given that Reese is gone. If Oats can somehow figure out how to get it out of him, there’s no better fit for his system.

Eh.

I mean he’s like 6’9”, but that’s where the physical gifts end imho. I don’t think he’s very athletic. He doesn’t have any burst at all. He’s not a leaper. He doesn’t have a strength advantage over anyone even remotely close to his size. If he were 6’2” he wouldn’t even be here.

I think it boils down to a combination of whether or not he can convince Nate that he has fully bought in and what we are able to replace him with.

Yeah, I think Reese really fits the Oats system because theoretically he could play the role of a 4/5 that can also make the kick-out three.

Problem is that he can't jump, isn't aggressive enough, and lately he can't make a shot. I think y'all are right that most of it is in his head, irrespective of his lingering hip injury.

I was really rooting for Galin this year, and thought he had turned a corner early, but now he seems just totally discombobulated on the court.

Besides all this, he's fine.
Reese isn't athletic. He isn't competitive. He's lazy and soft. He's probably a good kid, BUT he's not gonna help take this team forward unless he miraculously does a 180 degree.

30 years since Bama won a conference tourney. 30 years since Bama was sending NBA players into the league like they were North Carolina.

The best thing we could do for this middling program is getting our Coleman Coliseum project going. If we start it tomorrow it's way too late to be in a hurry. Cecil Hurt is right, let's start busting some cement, NOW!

This is why I think he's been a bigger problem than Galin this year... Galin is turrrible but he at least competes and gives you everything he has.

I don't know why they cancelled the CBI. Nobody shows up to watch those games anyway. The arenas are all empty, what's the risk?

Serious question because I don't remember. Is is that Reese CAN'T jump or is it because of his injured hip? Was he able to elevate before this year? I've been as down on Reese as you all too, but if the injury was serious enough to hamper his play, he may have just finally given up trying toward the end of the year because of it. He certainly gave up, I'm just trying to figure out if he had a legitimate reason.

I assume we will keep one of our 4 bigs from this year, if not two.

I wouldn't mind keeping Davis he has a good enough shot that he could be serviceable from three, he is a good free throw shooter.

He has three years left to improve at least unlike Smith and Reese and showed he had some potential. While very inconsistent he did score close to 20 points in a couple of games.

His rebounding frustrated me the most, at 6’9 245 guards shouldn’t be able to box him out and get rebounds and that happened way too often.
