I recall reading when he signed from people on this board that Juwan was a tough, athletic physical player who's weakness was outside shooting?
I'd say that's correct, but he has the potential to be a pretty good shooter. I think he shot around 30% from three, which isn't good but it's not terrible. Watching his highlights he has a pretty good looking shot.

Oats daughter posted this on twitter
for everyone saying that you’ve heard various things such as that my family hates it here, etc... i can speak on behalf of MY family and say we love it here and we love the people of Tuscaloosa and we all love The University of Alabama and the opportunities that go along with it

Like I said the fans are the biggest problem in our program. We got a good coach but stupid fricking Retards and FOGs wanna blame everything on him in year 1 and say “Same Ole shite”

I hadn’t even heard that they didn’t like it here. I’m way behind on my false rumors
Posted on 3/8/20 at 8:51 pm to mistaken4193
Ive seen multiple Bama fans spreading that rumor too that Oats family hates it here and how he might as well leave. Sad.

It happens everywhere. This isn’t just an Alabama problem. That’s one of the biggest drawbacks from social media. It gives idiots a platform. The good old days the only platform was Finebaum

Oats is the right guy. He had us scoring 80&90 points on the regular. He just needs his roster. Anybody who is doubting him is foolish. Don’t doubt him doubt the Bama Basketball program

We had idiots wanting to get rid of Saban after Tua got injured. Idiots are gonna idiot
Posted on 3/8/20 at 9:07 pm to mistaken4193
Nothing spoils a fan base like winning and we have been winning in football a ton over the last decade+ and nothing brings out the idiot, no knowledge, fair weather fans like winning. Some of our fans were questioning if it was time for Saban to retire after losing two games last year now they have latched onto the bball program and want Oats fired because we didn't make the tournament after we had 6 players get injured.

I am concerned that this was our season though if Kira and Petty leave.
That’s my worry as well. It could have been a memorable season. If Kira AND Petty leave, next season is going to be UUUUUGGGGGLLLLLYYYYY

Petty would be a tougher loss imo, we have Quinerly who hopefully can step into Kira’s role and do a good job but we don’t have anyone that we can slide into Petty’s role and shoot 45% from three.
Primo and Keon Ellis are both good shooters, getting one or both of them would really be a must if Petty leaves.

If those two leave, next year will def. be a rebuilding year again.

I wonder who we play next year.
Posted on 3/8/20 at 10:33 pm to RollTide4Ever
A starting lineup of
PG Quinerly
SG Shack
CG Petty
CG Herb
PF Rojas
Would probably be a pretty solid. Hard to know what our bench would look like at this point, who stays or who goes ect, Ambrose and Gary are the only two that I would call certainties.

I don’t know if next year is necessarily ugly if both Petty and Kira leave. I think next season depends a lot on good Q really is. And how much he has matured since Villanova. So many unknowns. With him, Rojas, Gary, and the inevitable transfers that will come in; next year will be a roll of the dice. Could be an absolute disaster but it could also be surprisingly good.

I think next year is 100% dependent on maturing defensively and mental toughness.
Alabama went through stretches of games with droughts that cost them big leads and put them in tough spots in trying to make comebacks. I don't remember too many times where they forced the other team into long droughts.

On the one hand, it is entirely possible that our roster turnover results in a lot of improved play. On the other hand I feel like every time I have said something to the effect of "we were bad this season, so all this roster turnover should be a good thing" it ends up being a deal where of the 5 or 6 new players 2 are worth a shite and the rest are just as bad as the crappy players they are replacing.

You may very well be right, but if he does come back and improve enough to be drafted, he'd be making at least around 3/4 of a mil...but who knows what his personal situation is at this point.

Man, we really were playing 2on5 these last 2 games. Pettys elbow was messed up and was nowhere close on his shot, Herbs got 1 hand, Our 3 Centers are useless. It was basically Kira Lewis and Jaden Shackleford.

This 100%. I would like to believe that Oats is an intelligent man who understands Social Media and the trolls and keyboard tough guys who will say all types of hateful and ignorant stuff. I'd also like to believe that he understood the culture of the basketball program at UA and the challenge he faced and still faces when he came here. Any coach that accepts the basketball job at UA has to understand you're going to have a lot of folks who give 95% of their attention to football and know next to nothing about basketball except for when they tune in once football season is over. I don't think he's going to let fools on social media or ignorant fair-weather fans get to him too much.
