That kind of line movement means a lot of money or either some sharp money has been put on Bama. I don’t think Herb is moving the line that much. I think we roll.

Our schedule this season is absolutely absurd. Basically 2 gimmee games the entire season.

Hopefully they have a good year so that loss doesn't look worse at the end of the season. Especially if we're a bubble team. But I don't think it should be understated that Herb got hurt early and we basically played the entire game without him. He's the second most important player on the team behind Kira, at least IMO. And I'm not advocating that he's the second BEST player, just second most important. As he's the only guy that can actually be trusted to play any defense.

Completely agree. It makes him even more important that our guards are among the least effective on the ball defenders you'll see.
Petty, even if he's having one of his many brain dead offensive nights, is right behind Herb because he hustles on the defensive end and has the size and athleticism to occasionally help out against all the open space created by our inability to guard the dribbler.

Agree on Herb.
I thought Shackleford went from kind of disastrous on-ball defense against Penn to totally ok on-ball defense versus FAU. Which was good to see.
Granted if you wanted to just be cautiously optimistic you could say that it was at least partially due to guarding less talented players.
I’m not totally sure why Kira struggles so badly with on-ball defense outside of just being slight and not very strong.

Another massive opportunity for the Atlantic 10 tonight as Rhode Island hosts Alabama.
Can the Rams' continue to move the needle on the heels of big wins by both VCU and St. Joe's?
Huge 40 minutes ahead in Kingston.
Jon Rothstein’s hard on for the A10 cracks me up.

That rebounding stat scares me. With our lack of big men, he could singlehandedly rape us on the glass for easy put back points. Let’s hope we can control him to a degree.

The rebounds will be too long for a typical rebounder.
I hope.

URI is one of the worst shooting teams in the country. Think they’re ranked like 320 out of 353

Alabama at Rhode Island (7:30PM EST, NBC Sports Network):
This is probably the most intriguing game on the slate, as these two teams would love to add a solid non-conference win to their resume. Alabama’s injury situation will likely play a big role, especially if Herbert Jones misses a second straight game with an elbow injury. Jones is the driving force for the Crimson Tide on defense, and not having him both as a defender and rebounder wouldn’t be ideal in a tough road matchup. With all five starters returning, the Rams have an advantage when it comes to chemistry and overall experience. That could prove to be the difference here given the unknowns with whether or not Jones will play for the Tide (Update: Jones is expected to play, according to Alabama coach Nate Oats).
Prediction: Rhode Island 73, Alabama 71.

100% our best Starting 5. With Shack, Forbes, and Reese coming off bench.

Was looking all over that shitty ESPN app for the game. Then finally realized it is on NBCSN

What purpose is served by making this player sit out a year? None. The NCAA’s transfer policy is unconscionable.
