Yeah, we need to win the next 2. If we can go into Starkville in a position where a win would be really great but not a must have I'll feel much better about our chances. That South Carolina game worries me as much as anything left on the schedule though. No one fricks up other teams' seasons like Frank Martin and South Carolina.

182. Kansas St (W 77-74)
151. Vanderbilt (W 77-62)
149. Stephen F Austin (W 78-68)
139. Missouri (W 88-74)

Oxford has been a tougher venue for Bama than Vandy ever since I can remember. And they have had some horrendous teams and have just abused us. Of course Gottfried basically didn't prepare for road games when he was here but our other coaches haven't fared well their either. I'm not holding my breath there.

Yea Gottfried used to lose by 20+ almost every trip to the Tad Pad

Regardless, this is the sort of game a team at our juncture needs to win if they are truly going to do something.

- A&M is the 3rd worst 3 PT shooting team in the country (#351, 26%)

- A&M is the 6th worst effective FG % team in the country (#345, 44%)

Unless A&M makes 3s at a rate they seldom have all year or gets a million offensive rebounds and we have an awful shooting night......it will be hard for them to score enough to win.

Or if we turn back into #TeamTurnover.....

He used to lose by 20+ about every time he left Coleman.

My frustration level at watching those teams knew no bounds

Yeah, that has never happened to us. Bad 3pt shooting teams never inexplicably make over half their 3s against us. No way.

Goddamnit.

You could make a lot of money betting on Alabama basketball in those days. We were extremely predictable. We will lose on the road, and no halftime lead at home was safe.

And we'd inevitably kick the shite out of top 10 teams at home (Florida, Tennessee, State).

Those Gottfried-Stansbury matchups were so awesome though in the early to mid 2000’s.

Stansfield hated us and we hated him. It was great.

The Ernest Shelton 3 pt barrage game when we all chanted "Powers Sucks" for minutes on end is still one of my 2-3 favorite athletic moments as an undergrad. The place was frickin electric.

I was at the MSU - Alabama game in 2004 for the SEC Title. It was an insane atmosphere.

I definitely took 2000-2010 or so for granted. Would kill to be a consistent NCAA team now.

The State/Bama rivalry at the heyday of the Stansbury/Gottfried era is by far the most fun I've had with college basketball.

We recruited against eachother, cheated against eachother, played for titles against eachother and all of those things were generally within like a 200 mile bubble from Birmingham to Jackson and everywhere in-between.

It was the best

I think it was in 2005 when Gottfried absolutely destroyed Stansbury and would not pull his starters out.

I am trying to recall the most heated recruiting battle. My first instinct is Mario Austin, but I may be wrong about that.

Erwin Dudley was a pretty contested recruitment.

Mario Austin, Mo Williams, Walter Sharpe

Some of our guys I can't remember if we battled State for or not : Dudley, Gerald Wallace, Terrance Meade, Shelton

The ones I vividly remember are Austin, Mo and Sharpe. Charles Rhodes maybe?
