Best case scenario with the hand we've been dealt with is a winning season & I don't see many of those with a depleted roster mixed in with a couple below average players trying their best to not trip over their own 2 feet running up & down the court.

You wouldn’t think so. In the preseason practice videos I saw Hawkins looked liken he was playing well. Not sure what happened.

I don’t think he was in shape. In The 30+ minute preseason practice video guys were almost lapping him when we would run. He was so far behind everyone

Just watched Oats press conference and it was the 1st time all year he has looked defeated. I think he knows losing Herb was the death nail on this season.

Petty on Jones was huge down the stretch and I made a comment about it in the game thread. I don't know the exact time but Mason went several minutes without a fg with petty guarding him. I'm wanting to say petty was guarding him around the 10 minute mark.

Mason Made fg 10:50 mark

Alabama (12-9, 4-4) is ranked 46 in KenPom and had the 30th toughest strength of schedule.

Not sure how he ranks luck but he has Alabama ranked 327 out of 353 in terms of luck. I’d say that’s about right.

I remember Hawkins going out there with walk ons one game and you wouldn’t have known he was on scholarship. He looked like a baby deer out there.

His social media presence makes you want to like him though.

I was really impressed with Arkansas tonight. Their best 3 players, Whitt, Mason and Joe were all questionable. They all 3 ended up playing and played hard, Whitt and Mason combined for 58 points and both played over 38 minutes.

They are a good team. It might have been a different game if we had Herb but I still give them credit, they outplayed us tonight at our place.

I was impressed to. I'm amazed by the fact that they can play so hard for 40 minutes with just 6-7 guys, and some of them are playing hurt. Alabama's drop off in talent after the first 3 players is very significant, while every player on the floor for Arkansas can play. Also, their defense of the 3 point line while denying the driving lanes was exceptional.
Oats is doing the best he can with what he's got to work with.
PS- It's gotten to where I actually feel sorry for Smith..the kid's just in waaay over his head, and I'm sure he's trying his arse off.

If Nate were asked if it was easier to recruit at Buffalo or Bama which school would get the node. I will go with Buffalo and I expect Grant would say that Dayton would get the call over Bama. Not being able to land the kid from Mountain Brook was a bad deal. Nate can coach but he can't make chicken salad out of chicken shite no matter what brand of mayo he selects.

I really don’t understand why the officials seem to have it in for us. We get so many bullshite ticky tack calls on us, both home and away. And it’s fouls we can’t afford. It’s almost as if we have the reputation now as a handsy team and they are looking for shite to call. And I don’t buy the argument that it’s because Nate rides the refs too much.

I watched the Auburn Kentucky game last night and sweaty bitch Bruce was screaming his head off at the refs, got T’d up for leaving the box, yelled at them to throw him out, and was just a complete a-hole for 40 minutes, yet Auburn won the game mainly because every call went their way. Kentucky was in foul trouble the entire game and it was a lot of bullshite calls as well. I couldn’t believe it. I kept waiting for Cal to go off and lose his shite but he never did. It was almost like he was resigned to the horrible officiating.

It's because we have a, well earned, reputation for being a bad defensive team. If you are bad on defense you will not get calls your way. Bolden is averaging significantly more fouls per game on less minutes than he did last year. He didn't suddenly forget how to play defense. He just got away with a lot more borderline stuff last year because he played for Bob Huggins and Bob Huggins teams have a reputation for being good on defense. Virginia gets away with murder on defense for the same reason. They are a good defensive team, so they get the benefit of the doubt on anything close.

My question on Smith is why in the world did we recruit this kid? It’s obvious he’s trying and he wants to contribute but he’s SOOO unathletic it’s painful. What did somebody see besides his size? I bet I can go find some 6’9” guys that can’t play for shite too.

Avery did a horrible job bringing in bigs. He also brought in the human foul machine who looked the part but that was it
