24+ hours later and I’m still not over that shitshow/choke last night. The one consistent with this god forsaken program is the ability to snatch defeat from the most extreme likelihood of victory. I hate Alabama basketball. I really do.

Seriously they are the fvckin worst.

Not the literal people occupying the staff and roster now, just the general presence that is the basketball program.

Pull that game out in anyway, excitement for the program, though probably temporary, would have been there Wednesday night in Coleman.
Regardless, I'll still be watching supporting the guys, hoping for a win.

Still pissed. If Kira just dribbles into the front court we win that game.

idk I wouldn't put it past us to still have found a way to blow it.

Under Avery it seemed like no matter what, in a close game against a more talented team they were gonna find a way to lose, gonna take Oats a while to get that out of their system. We are going to break through that wall eventually under Oats, no doubt in my mind.

Yeah, with our luck Kira splits the FTs and they come down and nail a 3 to tie it.

Obviously last Saturday night was a devastating loss & with this team it certainly is 1 game at a time. However, Wednesday January 15 8pm Auburn comes to Coleman Coliseum.
Auburn will likely be 15-0.
To me, this is the game that would create optimism going forward with an upset victory.
Easier said than done but though Auburn is unbeaten it is not in dominating fashion.
1st things 1st, gotta beat Miss St. Wednesday night followed by the difficult game in Rupp Arena.

I logged out of Alabama basketball entirely the moment that game ended. It’s just absurd how invested and annoyed I was.

I’m probably going to do the healthy thing and continue to not think about it at all in the hope that it goes away.

Although I am thinking about going to the game on Wednesday.

Now that I've calmed down from the game some, here's a few thoughts.

The T White got in the second half really changed the way the game was called. The next couple of possessions after the T Bama got hit with really weak fouls.

In the late game offensive possessions, I was really disappointed in how we didn't attack the rim. Instead we would get the switch from the pick, and then shoot a step back 3 instead of our guard attacking the big that was trying to cover them. In many cases is was Blackshear who was guarding, so we really should have forced the issue.
The turnover on the side inbounds play looked like somebody didn't run the play right. I might be wrong, but it didn't look like an Oats drawn play.

This team feels eerily like the '16-17 Auburn team. Multiple games that year that 15+ point leads turned into losses. They simultaneously looked like they could play with anyone but could beat no one

Teams like that who end up returning players generally improve drastically the next season. Their experience makes them extremely formidable

In our three losses vs Florida, Penn State, and Iowa State, Kira has shot 13-55 (23%). He's not the only one to blame, but it's frustrating to see because he's capable of playing better.

Everyone has bad games too. His situation is a bit different because we really have no one else to rely on to run point. This is where the NCAA fricked the team over by not granting JQ his waiver.

It's frustrating because in a season where we didn't have any idea what to expect he was considering the safest bet to be a constant..........and everything else has improved at a very rapid pace and he has just, frankly, stunk.

I mean who would have guessed that Kira would have the #2 worst offensive rating on the team only in front of Herb?

Well my suggestion and it may be totally off the mark would be for Kira to shoot less and facilitate more. The shot is not falling consistently so quit forcing it. Just pass to the open man more. If Kira is the open man then by all means, take your shot. But I think shooting less is the way to go for now. I still think fatigue is a big factor in this discussion. I’d love to see some advanced metrics on whether this is a recent phenomenon or has it been going on all year? Does it get worse late in games or is it pretty consistent throughout.
