I wonder why Hawkins doesn’t get any minutes? Is he that bad? I thought he was a guy that was supposed to be able to help a little.

That’s embarrassing and someone should be fired over a social media post like that.

If they'd just quit forcing passes and dribbling into traffic...

Saw where the women dropped a close one to USCw today. I don’t think there’s going to be much improvement for the ladies this year. I think it’s time to show Kristi Curry the door and go get Madonna.

Anthony Grant has Dayton ranked in the top 15.

Grant didn't play the most exiting style but I've always thought he was a pretty good coach.

His problem at Alabama was 100% on the recruiting and scouting side of it.

His recruiting seemed to always end up as the second choice for a 5 star player and his fall back signing being a player that's better suited to Division II

Grant’s recruiting/team construction/roster management just never seemed to fit what he actually wanted to do on the court. Or more accurately, it only really completely fit when he had a front court of Jamychal, Chris Hines, and Tony Mitchell.

The post/bigs recruiting after Jamychal and Hines was so bad.

Anyway this has all been discussed at great lengths - I don’t have any revolutionary insights. I am happy he’s doing well, but I certainly don’t think it was a mistake to move on.

100% agree. I believe Madonna would turn us around pretty quick

Things went sideways for Grant when Pollard's mom went nutso, Lacey transferred, and Anthony Barber blew up what may have been a really good recruiting class when he decided it'd be a good plan to steal shite from the Louisville locker room on his OV there. We went from thinking we were headed for a bounceback year with a solid roster to playing the next season with like 9 scholarship players. Grant just never had a good backup plan for roster management, so when the program got hit by some unexpected attrition and his top recruit was no longer a viable option he was completely screwed.

Yeah, there were a lot of factors. I do think he needed good interior guys to really maximize the style of play he favored, and man did we not find any of those post-Jamychal. Now he seems to have found one in Obi Toppin.

I mean frankly it's been brutal for Alabama big men since Jamychal. I liked Bola, and Javian has real potential, but Donta is clearly our best big man since....2011. Rough.

What about Jimmy Tayl....... I’m sorry I can’t say that with a straight face

I don't know where he ranks on the really depressing "top ten big men since Jamychal" list, but it's not at the bottom.

Can't forget Nick Jacobs. Another player that had potential to be decent inside, and eventually transferred out.

It hurts reflect about the Grant years because there was a level of excitement surrounding the program the first few years of his tenure. Going undefeated at home his second year and starting off so well in his third year had me stoked for basketball in the future.

Yeah, as bad as it sounds I would kill for a Jimmie Taylor clone this season.
