What's the "seeding" for this tournament?
I know there really isn't one, but who are they wanting/ expecting to be the big matchups?
UNC- Gonzaga? Michigan- Oregon?

Y’all see Wiseman is reinstated to come back after 12 games? Wish JQ could get similar treatment. The NCAA is also making him donate $11,500 to a charity of his choice. They are an awful organization and make it up as they go much in the same way as the playoff committee.

So they basically admitted he got paid in violation of the rules and he gets a slap on the wrist and Memphis gets no punishment.

Meanwhile we can’t even get a waiver for a kid to play.

Break out the checkbook and let’s see how good of a team we can buy if they are going to allow it, sorry mother frickers.

Setting aside the fact that in the past the "donate to charity" resolution was for receiving an impermissible benefit worth like $300 and now we are talking about in excess of $10k, if Wiseman's family is so poor that they can't afford to move from Nashville to Memphis how the frick are they going to come up with $11,500 to pay to a charity? Unless paying the money back isn't even a condition of reinstatement and they'll let him take care of it after he signs a rookie contract, which would just be....wow. frick the NCAA. They'll gladly allow college basketball to become a semi-pro league but go full Gestapo over some fricking textbooks.

Another one of those things that was funny at first, but has since been beaten into submission to the point where I cringe every time I hear/see it.

I apologize to the board. I am fortunate to live in Tuscaloosa and be able to attend all of the home games. I was happy to see the improvements in the team and reacted poorly to the in game comments that were negative. I have been justifiably chastised for attacking the posters on this board who would not be here if they were not invested supporters of our team. Roll Tide!

Game threads, both football and basketball, are emotional rollercoasters with positive and negative overreactions galore. Pretty much all of us are guilty of it, but 95% of the board returns to level headed status within an hour or two of the game ending.

This thread is a barren wasteland of raw emotions created by Alabama basketball.

It's just good to have a bunch of folks like yourself and everyone in this thread that care enough to go to all the games or find ways to watch them all and be emotionally invested.

A good example of why you should never overreact to someone who is simply accused of a crime. Can you imagine trying to come back from false accusations of this magnitude? The story of your involvement is always going to be vastly more known than the story of your innocence.

The 12 game suspension is actually more than I thought they might do. The NCAA has tried to focus on repayment as a big part of restitution in these cases. And 12 games is essentially 1/3 of the season. Which, given the NCAA’s current perceived lack of power, is a pretty significant penalty.
I think you and I look at it from a different perspective than the NCAA had to... we all know he took way more money than that to play at Memphis. But that’s not the info the NCAA was dealing with. They were dealing with 11.5k to assist a move to a city where he ended up going to college. For that “crime”, he lost 1/3 of his college basketball career. I’m okay with that decision.

Nice story on Raymond Hawkins' journey to Alabama. It's one of those pieces that is obviously written by someone else from an interview with the player or something. But, he seems like a great kid. I'm pulling for him.

You always need to wait for the evidence to play out. As I said when the story first broke, Farmer was one of if not THE player I liked most from the Wimp era. I really hope this is a sign that he got too close to a line, didn't cross it, but got caught up with a bunch of folks that did.

Having said that, just like we have to wait before condemning completely, be careful to not completely jump the other way with what happened here. He wasn't acquitted. This was a preliminary hearing where the judge didn't think the prosecution had shown enough evidence to justify forwarding it to a grand jury. They may have shown all they have and this is the end (which I hope to be the case), but they may also have more evidence that they didn't think was necessary to show this early. If that's the case, they can present it to a grand jury, secure an indictment, and we're off to the local lockup once again.

Like you said, just need to wait and see.

I’m not saying he’s innocent, but I tend to not think the worst of people when their names are dragged through the dirt over accusations. That shite ruins lives.
