Pushing injured players?

Jonathan Allen made a comment about it a couple of weeks ago regarding Da'Ron Payne pushing himself while injured rather than taking time off to heal. Said Payne was still "Bama-nized" and "he still thinks he has to push through everything".

Da'Ron Payne still 'Bama-nized' about injuries, Jonathan Allen says

Allen didn't mean it in a negative way.

Beat writer Matt Zenitz on twitter said Saban said Tua has sprained his knee, but has taken every rep in practice this week.

If our medical, training, and coaching staff can't take care of this minor issue then we deserve everything coming to us.
BTW papa Galu was at practice today (al.com), so it is something.

Edit. Article just came up LINK

Kinda wish they would've given him the week to heal his knee

Or maybe he was just watching his son practice. Saban said he was good, and as long as he doesn't run much it isn't like he gets hit as a passer too often. I think he'll be fine. Bye week coming up.

Saban also updated the statuses of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and offensive guard Lester Cotton.

"Tua has taken every rep in practice," Saban said. "He does have a sprained knee. We did put a brace on it just to kind of protect him, but he's been able to do all the work in practice, so that's not an issue.

"Lester Cotton sprained his ankle. It's a mild ankle sprain. Hopefully, he'll be able to get back to practice tomorrow, and we'll be fine."

They should at the very least stop calling designed runs for him, at least until he's 100%.

That's all that needs to happen. We are going to be a strong favorite until the SECCG, so why not give his knee time to heal by not calling running plays or plays where it's an option he keeps it, just give it to the RB

I agree. And he takes off and scrambles on his own regularly. So why expose him to additional punishment for a few yards with designed runs? The risk doesn't not fit the reward.

You goobs do understand that a bulk of our big pass plays have come on RPO, right? You also understand that we are avg over 50 per game, right? The only thing that needs to be limited is Tua running when we are up by 21+ in the 2nd half.

Edit, not going to call someone on this board a name, but some of us knew this knee deal was an issue.

I hope everyone now sees how unbelievably stupid those QB runs were with Tua.

Still can't believe they were running him on designed runs.
