Supporting someone doesn't mean blindly following everything they say or do.

I don’t know why some of you get so angry and resistant when there is constructive disagreements. I would understand if it's insults and nonsense, but it isn't. There is genuine concern and rightly so because of the last two coordinators.

I think it's because lately many of the disagreements on the board haven't been constructive, and really have devolved into insults and nonsense. Yes, everyone is anxious about the hires, and we all want to see home run hires. But ridiculous statements like, " ...if Saban hires Candidate X, it's all over, and shows that Saban is washed up" (I'm exaggerating, but that is the basic tone of lots of the posts recently) are what rankles people. I understand, this is a forum for different opinions, but that sort of talk is far from constructive. Not saying that those comments are indicative of your posts, just a lot I've seen lately.

Why not our very own homegrown AJ Milwee??

Hope whoever it is work out for us though.

But...

The name AJ alone should get him in the door a little bit at least lol

Honestly you aren't really exaggerating and that's what gets on my nerves. If people want to disagree with a hire or question if it's the right guy for the job fine. Fire away.

But the ones, and there are plenty, who say Saban isn't holding to his own standard, doesn't care as much as he used to, or has decided to coast into retirement are idiots.

Saban hates losing. He hates seeing people saying Bama isn't the standard anymore. I believe he's doing all he can to fix it. But what do some of these fans want from him?

He can't make coaches come if they don't want to. I'd argue it's possible that his dedication to upholding his standard is what scares some candidates off. He expects them to work exactly as hard as he does and some don't want that.

There’s a report that Alabama reached out to Joe Moorhead but he declined. He’s currently a head coach at Akron though.

I hope this report is inaccurate.

It is Michael Cassagrande. I’m skeptical. The local media has been worthless on the searches.

I have admittedly had that tone. I think it’s coming from a fairly rational place. This is almost certainly Sabans last run at things. He is what most of us would consider elderly, if these coordinators strike out I doubt there is another rebuild.

Casagrande is a skyline chili truther. That's enough to doubt his judgement.

There’s so much cheese on that stuff I doubt anyone who eats it can think clearly due to the constipation it surely causes.

Is that tone constructive in any way? Do you not think Saban wants to get the best available coordinators possible? Do you not think he's better informed on who will be a good fit for what he wants to achieve to be successful? Yes, we were not overwhelmed with his last coordinators, but his overall track record of picking successful assistants has been unmatched in the sport.

Most of Saban's worst staff hires have been since the end of the 2017 season. I'm not sure Saban deserves unquestioned confidence on this front anymore.

No part of you thinks “he is doing the best he can” is a defeatist mindset? If her hires Grantham I don’t believe he is doing the best he can. I’m sorry I can’t believe that. Maybe it isn’t constructive, but it’s true.

Anybody who hired or over-promoted Lupoi, Golding, Marrone, and O'Brien in a short span should not inspire unquestioned confidence.

Damn...We have US Generals saying that we will be in war with China in three years. Economists saying the economy is a tinderbox and will make the 1920s look small. Government spending is out of control.....

and the worst thing is that we are interviewing Joe Moorhead.

tDecline maybe real.

Where did I compare interviewing Joe Moorhead to any of those things?

None of those things will happen and has nothing to do with Joe Moorhead interviewing

You didn't. I didn't say you did. Just the news the past few days has been pretty negative.

How is doing the best you can defeatist? Contrary to the old sports saying, you can't give 110%, only 100%. A man can only do his best. If he chooses Grantham, you can bet it's not because all of a sudden Saban got lazy or tired. We don't know all the factors that are going on behind the scenes. Pruitt may still be radioactive, as might Jimmy Lake, Leonhard may have no desire to work in the SEC, Schumann may be satisfied with his position at Georgia. Where does that leave us, an inexperienced young guy? We saw how worked out with Pete Golding. A journeyman like Kevin Steele? Is that much different than Grantham? Saban has way more familiarity with what we need than we do, we'll just have to let him do his job and support the ones he hires. Sure, I'd love to see us hire some can't miss candidate, but that just may not be in the cards.
