There isn’t an offense in the country that can ONLY run routes 12 yards and less. You have to be able to push the ball vertically as well and we attempted both all year long.

I wasn’t arguing that our route trees suck or that we don’t throw quick game. I was responding to people who said that to me. I’m not sure what you’re saying I’m over simplifying?

You’re not a QB guru and not one person on this board is so take that QB development elsewhere because you’re talking out of your butt. His coaches repeatedly made statements to reporters than he needs to let it rip. I would assume they were coaching it even harder in film and practice. Ty repeatedly continued to pat the ball and be late on throws. He is who he is and that’s an average QB that can also be really damn good when he is letting it rip. There is a massive reason why Milroe started over him with two different coaching staffs.. and a lacrosse player also started over him.

You are something else, and logical isn’t that something…at all.

By your own logic, there’s a reason Ty is starting over the other 2…for the full season…even with an injury. You have no idea what you’re talking about, at all.

Btw, I never said I was a middle school football coach, but again, logic escapes you on what was actually said.

Never understood this. It was the same way with Jalen Hurts. Both Jalen and Ty represented Bama well.

Devil’s advocate question, in today’s environment where a season is considered a failure and a coach’s job is in jeopardy if you don’t make the final 12, can you afford to spend two years developing a quarterback?

That’s actually kind of my point and even more of a reason to bring Ty back. If you aren’t going to portal an experienced QB every year like Oregon, Miami, etc. are doing, you sure as heck better not let your experienced QB go somewhere else and start another 1st year guy. 1 year every other year with an experienced QB is better than 0 years with an experienced QB over a 2 year period.

Yeah, Im responding to the right person. You keep suggesting Ty missed "wide open" receivers all year but all he did was sit and pat the ball. Im telling you why he struggled seeing those so called "wide open" receivers. Youre grossly oversimplifying why Ty struggled.

I think a healthy Ty is a great QB, but I'd rather take our lumps with a high-ceiling talent like Russell. Dude is that good.

Reaosnable take, as long as you actually are ok missing the playoffs with the lumps. We aren’t OSU playing in the Big 10 where you can play a Julian Sayin and still go undefeated.

Ty could be very successful under a different OC. Grubb doesn't know how to best handle him.

He's making another "business" decision

If he goes to Tenn, we will what our defensive game plan will be.

Against P4 we averaged 24 points and 337 yards a game. I don’t think that’s all qb or all OC. Who gets the bulk of the blame remains to be seen.

100% agree, however, I am critical of how we packaged our passing attack knowing the run game was very weak. I think we tried too many route concepts that only really work if you have a good back-to-the-basket play fake game. In other words, you run well enough that hard, committed fakes from the QB mush up the pass rush and allow the routes concepts to work to the depth they need to be effective.

I think Ty Simpson is best when he's getting the ball out quickly and too often we were asking him to hold the ball by the play call. He throws a good ball for the hole shots and corner routes and solid on digs and pyramid routes over the middle. Basically, air raid-esque quarterbacking in my estimation other than we don't seem to work shallow crosses much.

Grubb is the problem at Alabama!

Hiding behind a top 5 NFL QB and 1st round receiver along with Germie.

Love your perspectives but I blame who does the hiring; and that starts at the top with Deboer. I believe he thinks Grubb is doing a good job.....I don't trust Deboer hire the next OC based on that. The most I truly want Deboer doing is maybe a recruiting coordinator. Head coach is over his skill level for the Bama standard.

I just disagree with you. There is a reason why coaches use all the 22 view to breakdown game film. It gives them both angles for the whole picture. Your example was concerning teams running zone but there are still countless times he missed wide open receivers in man to man too.

I think you would see a difference with different OL and RBs

I feel good about Dear and Crowell ( if he can get on the field ) but we need to get some talent on OL from the portal . I am not taking up for Grubb, but you can’t do a damn thing when you can’t have some semblance of a running game or protect the QB…. Your hands are tied

Ed Zackery

Heading to Oregon would be a good decision. Enjoy another year of college.
