I know it is completely unrealistic due to the donations and clout of said donors, but I really wish they would have made this season students only. 20k students in the stadium would have been awesome and a nice gesture. It is their University and team after all.
Well the Tide Pride Scholarship donors are paying 6-7x per ticket and they have a $500M+ stadium to finance. It's an easy decision to prioritize people willing to pay (a lot) more here

Does anyone know if you can opt out after you see what tickets you are offered? For example, let’s say I opt in and get selected for a package. Then my seats are in the upper deck end zone rather than 30yd line like normal... can I then opt out?
That's a damn good question. I might be willing to deal with uppers for Auburn or Georgia in that situation, but probably not Arkansas.

Exactly what I was thinking!

Greg McGarity said one of the quickest decisions by the SEC's 14 athletic directors was not to have tickets for visiting fans. He said it was a 14-0 vote.

There was never any doubt the University would prioritize the Tide Pride donors (and I already said as much).
But how nice would have it to been to be the only team with a home field advantage through this? You know the players would rather play in front of the students. Not to mention the majority of TP donors that will get tickets are the ones that sit on their hands the whole game.
How great would it have been from a University recruiting standpoint? Students are paying inflated tuition and missing out on many aspects of the college experience and we could have offered a unique advantage for them.

Look at your donor rank and try to estimate it. Your rank is on the personalized webpage linked in the email.
Assume the lower bowl holds about 50k (anyone know the actual number?).
20% of 50,000 is 10,000.
If everyone orders 4 tickets, that means the top ranked 2500 donors will be in the lower bowl.
You'll have some opt out and I'm not sure where they will put the students but if I am 3000+ on donor rank I'm probably thinking upper deck.

We were doing this earlier at lunch. Trying to estimate. The only wild card is how many opt out.

Yeah, that’s going to be interesting.

The 5 people I’ve talked to are all opting out and getting their money back.

Add me to that group if you haven't already.

Games with that few people will be weird, but maybe nice with stretching room.
I'm interested to know how they plan to keep 10,000 people from getting up and moving to better seats that are empty. They don't have the manpower to stop that.

I'm guessing they're going to put covers of some kind on the non-ticketed seats.

We've officially opted out.

Just curious why is everyone opting out?
Posted on 8/24/20 at 12:47 pm to CrimsonBoz
Price, generally avoiding crowds/public transportation, very close to getting rid of our tickets altogether.

For starters, I have no way of knowing where my seats would be.

I just opted out of mine. With priority number over 13,000 out of 16,000 plus, the only seats I could potentially get are the upper reaches of the upper decks. Not idea for this old lady and her hubs. Will wait and get my "easy to get to" seats next year!!!

The folks I know aren't confident the entire season is going to happen and don't want to re-visit this down the road in the event the season is canceled. They'd rather just get their money back now, watch whatever games actually happen on TV, and re-group for next year.
2 of them had actually been thinking about giving up their tickets before this happened. This gives them a risk=free way of seeing if they'll really miss it.
