I think Gurley is a huge addition, but I wouldn’t classify him as a 15 ppg guy. It’s always a crapshoot how mid major guys translate to the high major level. Seems like this is a perfect match though.

It's not good if you got some lazy arse that doesn't want to work hard or you change coaching staffs and that player doesn't fit the new scheme at all.

Don't like scholarships guaranteed for 4 years.

He probably won't get the shot attempts up here that he got at Furman so I don't expect it either. I do think he will be very good though and should be a perfect match, like you said.

6 or 7 rebounds a game would be huge. I’m not too worried about points. I’d like for him to make layups and free throws though

I'm 4'8 of pure rebounding. Coach Oats should sign me.

Regarding the transfer portal circus, there are some that are pushing the NCAA to make this free for all permanent. Saying it’s the best thing for the student athletes. There’s a simple solution if they want to go that route: transfer caps. You can only have 13 basketball players on scholarship and only 3 can come out of the portal in 4 years. Or something like that. Somebody smarter than me can figure out the optimal numbers but my point is limit the transfers a school can take. It might give kids pause if they knew they can’t all land at Kansas, Duke, Kentucky and UCLA. Of course, Musselman might have to return to the NBA if that were passed but that’s my two cents on transfers.

The Auburn contributor made a good point. I hope we aren’t TOO talented and we don’t mesh well. Our glue guy is leaving in Herb, so someone has to fill that void. We should be fine but every now and then, you see one of those teams that have loads of talent but can’t play together and hugely underachieve.

What's the Bama rotation looking like next year in terms of minute distribution? It's the most talented team I've seen at Bama since at least the early 2000's but those can sometimes be the hardest coaching jobs.

It's a great problem to have, much better than two years ago where we had no depth.

Last year we had 6 guards that got over 17 minutes a game and I think this year will be similar

Quinerly - 31 minutes a game
Davison - 30 minutes a game
Shack - 29 minutes a game
Primo - 24 minutes a game
Burnett - 21 minutes a game
Ellis - 19 minutes a game

As far as how Gurley, Tchikou, Bediako, Gary, get rotated I am not sure, I do expect Gurley to play about 20 minutes a game, after that its anyone's guess.

Hard to see Miles, KAH, Rojas, or Holt getting too many minutes unless there are some injuries. I think Holt might redshirt.

UCONN in 2006 is a prime example of that.

That's been the same problem we have had since 2004, just too much talent on the team to be able to make the tournament regularly.

This is a prime example.

my best way too early minutes guess so far,

jd 28 jq 26
shack 26 miles 8
primo 26 ellis 24
gurley 24 gary 15
tchikou 15 bediako 8

crazy to think a 5 star like nimari gets no time yet but im really high on miles. i see them both starting the year after anyway. all i know is whatever our lineup is our bench would easily be a tournament team.

I hope Miles sticks around even if he doesn't get a ton of minutes next year, I like him a lot and think he could be a big piece for us his JR and SR seasons.

Seems like he is being groomed to be a 6'7 point guard, he has a bright future I think.

i could see state being tier 1 if stewart returns and they purge brooks and jeffries from whoever those schools are. something like black tar and the house cats or something.

vandy as well could be a sleeper tier 2 if pippen returns. that center they got from midgetsoda helps them quite a bit.

I just don’t see any way Miles sees the floor much this year unless there is injuries.

Love Miles’ potential. He looked more lost on defense than anybody on the squad in the times he was out on the floor with the regulars, which I think shows how much the staff thinks of him that he was put out there. If he can get that part of the game and develop some grit, he could be a huge part of the team.

Been told the NCAA is gonna track IP addresses for those in the transfer portal and come down hard on the coaches who have given their passwords to non-coaches.

By my count, there are just a trio of Power 6 Schools without a scholarship transfer as of right now. That means 84 of 87 have at least one transfer as of today.

Today, the NCAA DI Council should, finally, approve a change to the transfer rule granting athletes the ability to transfer once in their career and be immediately eligible, as well as lifting the dead period starting June 1.
