Speaking of Oats being a genius and analytics, it’s crazy how efficient we are with the tempo we play at. Eliminating midrange and long-range twos is a huge part of that

when I want to know who had the best offense I look at who scored the most points per game
Are we talking best as in most effective or best as in most well executed? To me there's a bit of a distinction there. Like in general I would say Virginia executes their offense better than just about anyone, but it's far from the most effective offense because their level of efficiency on a possession to possession basis is really only possible because they use the entire shot clock up moving the ball around to create an ideal look.
Then on the other extreme end of the spectrum you have a team like us where we will happily forego a potentially great look 15+ seconds into a possession for a good look 6 seconds into a possession. So I'd say if you're just looking it it on an individual possession basis, we really don't execute all that well outside of set plays in crunch time because we tend to be really free flowing and take the first good shot we can get. On a game to game basis though, it's a more effective way of playing because we have guys with NBA talent and the more talented team is always going to benefit from having more total possessions. There's just no benefit to playing slow unless you're trying to hide a talent imbalance with your opponent. For teams who dial the tempo down as far as possible like UVA and Wisconsin it makes some sense because they rely so much on 3 and 4 year college players and generally lack high end NBA caliber individual talent. It also exposes them to some inexcusable losses to mediocre opponents because missing 4 shots in a row produces a 5 minute scoring drought.
Basically a smaller PPP gap on more possessions is a more effective way of playing than a slightly larger PPP gap with half as many possessions.

Who who you consider to be a better offense
Team A - 1.2 points per possession and averages 60 possessions a game or
Team B - averages 1.1 points per possession and averages 75 possessions a game?
It’s Team B imo even though A is technically “more efficient”, they are scoring less points overall.

Charles Bediako is a monster on the glass. Against the Lakers, he had 5 offensive rebounds in just nine minutes of play! His length and timing were on full display in Sacramento. He moves well for his size too – projecting as a rim running big man who can be a defensive force in the paint. He too is raw at this juncture. After signing an exhibit-10, he will likely play for the Austin Spurs this upcoming season.
Big Chuck looks like he may have found a spot with the Austin Spurs! We have been looking for a big guy who might be able to play the 5 and let Wemby be the 4 (and not get beat up by the bigger older NBA centers).....
Charles looked pretty darn good in the 2 games this week. However, it is clear that he would have benefitted greatly by playing another year at BAMA. Still very raw at this point. But if he develops this year in the G league, he might be able to play with the real Spurs in San Antonio next year....
The fans are really happy now, but initially were apprehensive about picking up Chuck after the bad experience they had with Primo...

I'm glad you listed those guys without position. Oats has stated this is positionless offense. WE will put out different lineups throughout the season. We do have lot of length on the team, and we have speed, and I think we will score lot of po

I don't understand the argument on this thread. The team with the highest points per possession almost always wins. It doesn't matter whether the score is in the 40s or the '90s. Each team gets exactly the same number of possessions except for the case where the team that wins the opening tip also has the last possession. If a team wins the opening tip off and has last possession AND wins by One point they MAY have a lower points per position by a fraction of a percent. Otherwise without exception the team with the most points per possession ALWAYS wins. Why are we arguing about that?

Wasn't talking about two teams playing each other in the same game.

Pro16 Finals: Top-25 senior Asa Newell highlights potential official visits
Five-star power forward Asa Newell says he is interested in visiting Alabama, Gonzaga, and Texas.
Top-25 junior Asa Newell was one of the standout performers from day one at The Pro16 Finals. A 6-foot-10 athletic four-man who plays his basketball at Montverde (Fla.) Academy, Newell completed two official visits last fall.
Georgia was the first program to host Newell back in September. Since his visit, he has valued his relationship with the Bulldogs coaching staff and has locked in on how they develop their talent.
"Erik Pastrana and I have Zoom calls all the time," Newell said on Georgia. "I am from Athens and my brother is going to be a sophomore there. They also have a great development program and I feel I have a good connection with Mike White."
Newell's second official visit to Indiana took place the following month. The Hoosiers stand out because of their recent success with Montverde product Jalen Hood-Schifino and the program's following overall.
"They have been showing a lot of love," Newell said on the Hoosiers. "Mike Woodson was in the NBA and I love their attention to detail with Jalen Hood-Schifino. It is really a basketball school with a lot of culture. So being in that environment is going to push me to be the best."
In August after the live period, Newell says he is considering scheduling three more official visits with Alabama, Gonzaga, and Texas to see what they have to offer.
Alabama: "I talk to Ryan Pannone. They have the best pace in college basketball. With them, I could really showcase how I could run the floor. That is important to me."
Gonzaga: "I talk to RJay Barsh and Mark Few. Barsh and I had a relationship when he was at Florida State. They play at the highest level and have had players of my stature there. They have a really good development program."
Texas: "Brandon Chappell recruits me. They do a good job with lengthy versatile athletes. They also have a good pace to their game. They like my potential and how I could play in their system. They want to get me to the highest level."
Newell says he will probably release a top five list before school starts in August. When it is time for him to announce his college decision, he says he wants to pick a school where he can help change the program.
"I want to go where I am needed and wanted," Newell said. "I want to build my own legacy and pick a school where the fit is right. It is going to be a really hard decision but I will pray everyday, listen to my mentors, and go from there."
Rated a five-star prospect, Newell is ranked No. 16 overall in the 247Sports 2024 Top150 Player Rankings.

This is typically recruit speak for "I'm leaning towards a trash program where I'll be the best player on the team from day one", so it sounds like UGA has the edge on this one. Especially with the family connections.

Oats and new staff has been killing it in recruiting.

This is my personal opinion, but UNC seems to have come to see White, not Scott.

Question for anyone that’s ever renewed season tickets before…I bought one single season ticket last year. But this year I’d like to buy 2 together. Am I supposed to renew the one I have or just let that go and try to buy 2 together at a later date? Or will they let me do that on Tuesday?
