2024 Four-Star PG Labaron Philon down to 6 schools
Labaron Philon, a four-star point guard in the 2024 class, is down to six schools: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Kansas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound prospect out of Mobile (AL) Baker has taken one official visit to Auburn and has been to Alabama unofficially.
In addition to Philon’s six finalists, he also received offers from LSU, Missouri, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, among others.
Philon ranks as the No. 43 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus — the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies (ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, On3).
The Alabama native is one of the leading scorers nationally, averaging over 40 points per game for Baker high school in Mobile.
Philon talks schools
In a previous interview with On3, Philon discussed a handful of schools involved in his recruitment.
Auburn: “With Auburn, it’s like they have this type of family feeling everytime I talk with them. Every conversation we have is about everything and not just basketball.”
Arkansas: “Arkansas is a school high on my list. I have a great relationship with Coach (Eric) Musselman. One of my best friends (Barry Dunning) plays there and highly recommends it.”
Kansas: “Coach (Jeremy) Case from Kansas has been one of my favorite coaches so far. He wants to know how you’re doing in school. But also wants you to grind everyday and put the work in.”
Scouting Summary
“Labaron Philon is a quick on quick lead guard,” On3’s Jamie Shaw writes. “He has long arms and a projectable frame with wide shoulders. Philon has a quick handle that gets him into the paint. He can knock down a jump shot with three-point range and consistency. There is a confidence and a competitiveness with Philon. He needs to add strength as he has a slight frame. There is upside on the defensive end; he can move his feet guarding the ball and is quick to get into the passing lanes. There is a natural smoothness he has on the ball with an upside to continue getting better.”

2024 Four-Star SG Elijah Moore down to 5 schools
Elijah Moore, a four-star shooting guard in the class of 2024, has narrowed his list of offers down to five schools: Alabama, Arkansas, Miami, Oklahoma State, and Syracuse.
The 6-foot-3, 170-pound prospect out of the Bronx (NY) Cardinal Hayes has taken official visits to Syracuse and Oklahoma State. Moore also plans to take an official visit to Alabama later this month, with the target date being January 24th. Nothing is set in stone yet.
In addition to the five schools listed among his top group, Moore also received offers from St. John’s, Illinois, Xavier, Seton Hall, UConn, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and others.
Moore ranks as the No. 79 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus — the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies (ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, On3).
Elijah Moore breaks down his finalists
Alabama: “They just want to win and send kids to the pros. I want to be a pro. They talk to me about their belief in me and what I can do. I really love the school’s environment and can’t wait to get out there to see what’s up. Coach Bryan (Hodgson) is a cool guy who gives a certain energy that I can feed off.”
Arkansas: “The coaching staff is amazing. They all check on me constantly. Tell me about their games and show much love. They are sending players to the league and putting their players in a position to be successful which I love.”
Miami: “Miami has a great style of play. They let their guards play free and make their own decisions. Talked to coach plenty of times and they seem like really cool people. I want to visit but I got to see how it pans out.”
Oklahoma State: “Most of their coaches are from NY and they have really good energy. They have a family-oriented feeling and I like that. There isn’t much to do out there but get better and do what I have to do.”
Syracuse: “Syracuse feels great. I’ve been there twice and the experience was great. The coaches are really cool guys and they have that level of support and knowledge I can see myself playing with in two years.”

I don’t have 247 but from what I am seeing I would say we are the favorite to get him.

Alabama made 2024 four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore’s top five on Tuesday evening, joining Arkansas, Miami, Syracuse, and Oklahoma State.
The Bronx (N.Y.) Cardinal Hayes product likes the direction his relationship with the Crimson Tide is headed.
“Coach (Bryan Hodgson), he came through to the school earlier in the season and just talked to me,” Moore said. “He had offered me and stuff like that. And then he came out to a game and things from there started spiraling forward. He was talking to me every day, giving me little challenges, motivating me, pushing me on and off the court. I like that type of energy. I know that when I get there it will be that, but times 10. So I’m really excited for that relationship. I’m hoping I can get down there to visit and see the coaches and players and just the atmosphere. If I can get that done that would help me a lot making a decision.”
Moore is eyeing an official visit date in the near future.
“The (January) 24th, they play Mississippi State on the 25th,” he said. “So I’m trying to fly out there the 24th, watch the game the 25th, and come back home on the 26th.”
The 6-foot-3, 170-pounder is ranked the No. 21 shooting guard and the No. 100 overall player in the 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
“I like their style of play,” Moore said of the Tide. "They let their guards play with freedom. They get a lot of threes up. They shoot the hell out of the ball. The guards have freedom to play and make decisions, which I like. They play very fast.”
How would the rising senior describe himself as a player?
“I feel like I’m an underrated passer,” he said. “I can shoot the hell out of the ball. I’m a leader just by heart. It comes with me being who I am as a person. I know how to make people happy that I’m playing with, but at the same time getting the job done.”
Moore has already officially visited Syracuse and Oklahoma State. He says he’s not sure if he’ll be able to get to Arkansas.
“The only thing I’m trying to plan right now is Alabama,” he said.
And while he says the top five are all even, a decision will be made soon.
“I’m going to do it by the end of January or the beginning of February,” Moore said.
Sounds like we'll know his decision pretty soon.
ETA: Have to like Bama's chances here. Really wants to make a trip down here, aiming for late January, and wants to commit in late January/early February. I also loved that he described himself as someone who can shoot the hell out of the ball and likes Alabama because our Guards shoot the hell out of the ball.

Alabama Basketball Makes Cut List for Multiple Top 2024 Recruits
As Alabama basketball is surging, so is its recruiting.
Just after Alabama once again entered the AP top-5 on Monday, the Crimson Tide made the cut lists of three top players in the 2024 class this week.
Those players are Trentyn Flowers, Labaron Philon and Elijah Moore.
Flowers is a 6-foot-7, 210-pound small forward from Huntington, West Virginia. He is rated as a 5-star recruit by the majority of recruiting service, as well as a consensus top-25 player in the Class of 2024.
He named Alabama one of his final five schools on Wednesday, along with Arkansas, North Carolina, Louisville and Creighton.
On3 reported that Flowers is aiming for a "March to April" commitment timeframe, which could open the door for a possible reclassification to 2023.
On Tuesday, consensus 4-star and top-50 recruit Labaron Philon announced Alabama as one of his final six schools.
Philon is a dynamic 6-foot-4 point guard from Mobile, Alabama and plays at Baker High School, where he was named the State Class 7A Player of the Year as a sophomore last season. As a junior this year, he is averaging over 40 points and six rebounds per game.
Philon is considered by many to be the top player in the state of Alabama. He is also considering Arkansas, Auburn, Kansas, Ole Miss and Tennessee, and has already visited both Auburn officially and Alabama unofficially.
The final player Alabama made a list for this week was four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore.
Moore is 6-foot-3, hails from New York and is widely considered a top-80 recruit in the 2024 class. He named Alabama to his list of final five schools with Arkansas, Miami, Oklahoma State and Syracuse.
On3 reported that Moore is planning on taking an official visit to Alabama, with a target date of Jan. 24.

2024 five-star SF Trentyn Flowers cuts list to five
Trentyn Flowers, the No. 21 overall prospect in the 2024 class, has cut his list of suitors down to five options: Alabama, Arkansas, Creighton, Louisville and North Carolina.
The 6-foot-8, 210-pound small forward out of Charlotte (N.C.) Combine Academy discussed his finalists as well as his timeframe on a decision with 247Sports.
Alabama: "I have known the coach for a very long time, since I was a child. Over there, I talked to them and hearing their plan for me to come in and be like Brandon Miller when it's time. Also, just having the eight month plan for me like the other guys they've had to come and go to the NBA."
Arkansas: "Arkansas made the list because they've done a great job of recruiting me and taking to me. They made me a priority over there and coach Musselman I talk to a couple of times a week. The way they play Anthony Black is how they compare me to coming in to do what he is doing. They showed up to practice and overall I just have a good relationship with them."
Creighton: "Coach Williams and coach McDermott are my guys. I went on an official visit there too and it was a great visit. They do a great job of keeping in touch with me and also the style of play and the history they have and the players they've had, that's why Creighton made it in there."
Louisville: "Coach KP and coach Nolan have done a fantastic job of recruiting me. We stay in touch and when I went out there for my official visits we had a great time. Even though they haven't been playing that well this year, they're still a great program."
North Carolina: "It's in my backyard now. Coach Hubert and the staff are an amazing staff. Really just the history of basketball and the program they have built over there is fantastic. Having a school like that and potentially staying home is a reason that they're in there."
Flowers has already taken four official visits this season to Louisville, Georgia State, Creighton and Oklahoma.
He has one remaining that he could take before he makes a decision, but if so he is going to need to knock it out fast.
"It could be very soon," he said of when he could make his commitment. "I could probably see this being in March, maybe even slimmer."
What is he looking for in his future school?
"Just a home away from home so just going somewhere that is a family-oriented environment and the style of play is a big thing for me also," he said.

Landing Miller is going to pay off for more than just this year. The fact he wasn't a top 10 prospect, and looks like the runaway top prospect from his HS class will make recruiting those lengthy 5-stars a whole lot easier.

If you are a wing who can shoot, defend, and rebound our style of play will make you look really good to scouts. Floor spacers who defend and rebound are what the NBA wants. We just have to commit NIL money to recruiting and keep Oats around and we will start to get kids like Miller in every class.

Yeah! I had forgotten he was visiting the Hogs tonight. Oats should ask him if he wants to fly home with some winners.

He was liking those while on his visit there LMAO. God I hope we get him. We could really use a 6'8 shooting guard.
