#Alabama basketball will play at least 16 and as many as 18 games against teams that made the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

The Crimson Tide will also play against 7 teams that won a conference championship last season.

Another year, another brutal schedule. The upside is that even a mediocre team like last season can get a 6 seed, but I still think that the constant grind of playing that many quality opponents is asking a lot of college kids. The SEC isn't the shite league it was 10 years ago when you might get like 5 opportunities for quality wins in conference play.

Yep - I do think the mid-major games are a bit easier this year.

Longwood, USA, Jax State, South Dakota St, Jackson State are all games that we should win by double digits. None of those teams are going to be on Top 10 mid-major lists. SDSU loses their entire roster and while Jacksonville State and Longwood are solid lower level teams that are a "best they can do is a 14/15 seed" type programs.

Liberty returns most of their roster and will be a really good middie this year, though.

But, we at least have a little bit of a slow start to get our footing before the tournament out West, then a pretty big break with SDSU in the middle of it to work on stuff, then the Houston/Memphis/Gonzaga stretch...........then a nice 11 day break with Jackson State in the middle of it.

I actually like the structure of the schedule a whole lot more this year than last. Last year just felt like we were rolling from one incredibly difficult challenge to the next, this one feels more like wave.......break......wave.....break before conference play starts.

We offered Silas Demary Jr last night. He’s a 4* 2023 CG from North Carolina.

I don’t even think we watched him in the most recent periods after being at every game last year. Not sure if it was an us or him thing.

We played Jax State, South Dakota State, and South Al last year, and they all gave us tough games - and we play South Al at their place this year. Longwood won their league last year. None of these are guaranteed double digit wins.

From what I understand, we still are not paying NIL up front to sign players. Many others are. We lost a major recruit last year to an SEC team and a top 50 this year to another. Until Sankey does something about cash on the barrelhead, we may struggle with recruits looking for the quick cash up front.

None of them are guaranteed but they should be.

We played very poorly against South Alabama. Very very poorly. It was the first sign of things to come. They also lost almost all their SEC transfer guys from last year (Franklin, Chandler, Manning).

South Dakota State of last year was very good and experienced. They basically replace their entire roster this year.

Longwood is a nice small major but they lost to Tennessee by 30 in the NCAAT, at Iowa by 33 and to pathetic Georgetown by 8. It's a game we should win by 20.

Jacksonville State loses almost their entire roster as well.

4-star Silas Demary adds new offer; more schools coming by

Alabama offered four-star point guard Silas Demary, Jr. on Tuesday. Demary is the No. 61 player in On3’s 2023 rankings.

Demary took three junior year official visits, St. John’s, Tennessee, and VCU. he has taken two senior year official visits NC State and Southern California. He has three official visits remaining.

Wake Forest head coach Steve Forbes was joined by VCU for Demary on Monday. Oklahoma came in on Tuesday for the top five available point guard. NC State head coach Kevin Keatts will be joined by Memphis and Clemson today.

Demary’s scouting report

Silas Demary is a high-level defender, both on and off the ball. Great length. Excellent anticipation. Really competes at a high level. He plays with a great pace, which enables him to make plays in the paint. The shot-making is efficient; he shot over 61 percent from the field during the UAA Next Circuit. Demary is an aggressive downhill scorer with touch that extends beyond the three-point line. Great in transition. Solid athlete. Dad played professional football. Like to see continue to tighten the jump shot. State champion. UAA champion.

listening to those Aub fans cheer is painful.

We need to turn that series back around.

I think we will turn the series around. I believe in this group...they have a lot of talented scorers on this team.
