I see more question marks than any roster in the Oats era.

No way. Definitely not the 1st team, and probably not the SEC Champion team. At this point with that group Herb couldn't score, JQ was a transfer with no on court history, Ellis was a JuCo transfer, Primo was a super young borderline 5-star, and Petty was still kind of a head case. We were having to replace a lottery pick PG off a team that went .500 overall and completely collapsed down the stretch.

This team has 2 Top 25 incoming recruits, 2 transfers with significant accomplishment at very good mid majors, a returning freshman all-SEC center and Burnett. We don't know how it'll all mesh but that can be said for 90% of college basketball rosters in the transfer era.

This teams physical makeup and abilities are much more athletic, long and positionless than we had last year. Sure, the freshmen could both be huge busts, Sears could be too slow for SEC play, Q could not come back and Burnett could turn out a step slower and still a terrible shooter. All possible. However, we will absolutely be a better defensive and ball handling team than last year. And our depth will be better.

Our questions will be outside shooting and how good the freshmen are, IMHO. And just general mental makeup.

I agree. Freshmen are being counted on to be big players. It's possible, but I have no confidence in my projections at this point. I thought JD was gonna be almost Sexton like, and I thought Bediako wasn't ready. It's even harder to predict the transfer guys. I'm just going in with blind optimism this season.

Yeah, in the current college basketball landscape you have to accept that there will be a ton of uncertainty with how the roster will mesh pretty much every year. Especially at the P-6 level. You're going to have like 7-10 new faces nearly every season.

Four freshman on the floor at the end of games probably ain’t happening unless we’re up by a lot or we’ve had some serious injuries.

If none of Welch, Burnett, Gurley, and Sears play well enough to justify being on the floor late in games we're probably fricked.

Bradley and Miller could both be dogs and finish a lot of games. But I don't envision many combos that wouldn't have Welch or Burnett in as a defensive stopper. Just not sure who else is really suited to fit that role. The best way to close out a game is to get defensive stops.

Sounds like we are going to miss on Ja'Kobe Walter.

For the past year I would’ve said he’s our top target for the 2023 class.

Agreed - we've been recruiting him hard for a long time. Sounds like he's going to choose Baylor over us.

Closing lineup I think would be something like this

I like that lineup. Need guys who can hit free throws, and most all those guys can do that- or Bediako got better at it last tear. Don’t know about Pringle.

Yes! Bediako got a lot better shooting free throws down the stretch. I like Pringle because of his ability to switch probably 1-5 but he most definitely has work to do at the free throw line. Clowney has that ability to defend a lot of positions as well.

On the other lineup...I was just pointing out that we could go BIG but it doesn't necessarily have to be that lineup shoot really I was just showing the height that we have at our use.

Anyone interested in buying a Bama basketball twitter account with 3K+ followers? It’s @_BamaRecruiting. I’m selling it for a buddy. I already have the log in info. Has made connections through it and has former/current players and coaches following it. Also is the main account Bleacher Report uses for the Bama basketball twitter feed on their app. He wants $250.

Who would y'all say is the new number one target now if he's off the board?

I really like Jaylen Curry. Dude has an unreal blend of handles, quickness, passing, and finishing. It's always kind of hard to verify without a scouting report, but he looks like a good shooter off the bounce as well. He looks like a 6-foot Justin Coleman, which would be a very good college player.

Maybe Curtis Williams Jr. We've been recruiting him hard for a long time too.

Alabama will host South Dakota State as part of its 22-23 non-conference schedule. Game is set for December 4th. Second straight year that SDSU will face the Tide in Tuscaloosa. Bama won, 104-88, in last season's meeting. Thx to @RunninHoops for the tip. #SEC #SummitMBB

They lost basically everyone but they are good pretty much every season so I'm sure they'll be one of the top 2-3 teams in their league again.

I apologize if this has been discussed. I only read about once a week.

I read somewhere that Anthony Grant lost a daughter. Anyone know the story?

Don’t want to say something officially and be wrong but it seemed like suicide. There was a lot of mental health talk around it so that’s how I took it.

Oh no, I hadn't read that. That's horrible.
