I said the same. Those two are better than anything we will get.

I know this might sound crazy. But stay with me for a second.

Maybe the guys transferring out, transferred out for the same reason why the bigger names in the portal haven't chosen us. Maybe, they all want more minutes, and don't see where they're going to come from. Maybe guys would rather play at a smaller school then sit at a bigger school.

Crazy, I know.

Meyer is still available. I don’t wanna hear the minutes excuse for him either. He’s good enough to get minutes here. Everyone wants him and Slater said it all comes down to NIL. It’s time to pay up and get him to Tuscaloosa and stop with “they’re scared of competition”. Yes, that’s true for some, and it’s fair to say that for a guy like Jones, but I’ll laugh if I hear someone say it assuming we miss on Meyer. Need Oats and co to prove me wrong with these last couple spots bc I’m not feeling great about it. I do like how we’ve filled out the rest of the roster tho so I’ll give them credit on that.

Yeah Georgia and Nebraska are really smaller schools than Alabama. What the hell was I thinking?

Gary had his moments, mainly 2 years ago. I never thought Holt was any good. If they stayed and were playing major minutes we would be in trouble anyway.

"Bigger" schools may have been the improper word, but I think we can see that he means "better". Nebraska and UGA are horrible programs.

I personally think Gary and Holt were pushed out, but let's not nitpick at people's posts when it's clear what is intended.

Exactly. Poor choice of words. Georgia should've been winless. It was our most embarrassing loss last year. Nebraska basketball hasn't been to the tournament in 8 years, and 2 in the last 14.

Damn skippy they are. Both have a long, storied history of sucking at hoops. Bama, OTOH, is the second winningest program in the SEC behind Big Blue.

ETA: Obviously I’m speaking in terms of basketball reputation when I see them as smaller schools

I don't think they would have had major minutes. But Gary could have played 8-10 and he's started games for us before. Holt I have less of a problem with if he was a knucklehead, but he had some potential.

Words have meaning.

UGa enrollment is ~36k
UA enrollment is ~31k
Nebraska enrollment is ~26k

Its ridiculous to call UGa and Nebraska smaller schools. You can say we have a better basketball program. And it could be argued that those guys have a better opportunity for playing time at those schools. However, I don't think either guy is expected to come in and start at their new school. It's not like Gary and Holt went to Samford and Mercer looking to be featured. It's just erroneous to say they went to smaller schools for more playing time. They both chose schools that were (like it or not) pretty comparable to the university they left.

Stop it. Its clear he wasn't talking about enrollee size or land mass or whatever the frick. Holt and Gary will have starting minutes guaranteed at those schools. That wasn't even the case this year here. Those are gutter programs.

I don't believe Slater one bit simply because if that were the case he would stay at Baylor. Meyer could start for Baylor this coming season and make a lot of money off NIL.

Just my opinion

I don't think money is the problem here at Alabama shoot it's exactly what Coach Oats said....scared to compete!

Sears
Burnett
Miller
Mayer
Bediako

This would be nice though I ain't even going to lie.

Are you just trolling at this point? They may be similar in size but in terms of basketball (which is the sport that Holt and Gary play) they are in no way comparable. They went a combined 16-48 last year. 16-48...

I'm sure there have been several occasions over the last few years where we have had more fans in attendance than UGA and Nebraska combined. Like, there are places where football is prioritized over basketball and then there are places where basketball simply does not, has not, and will never matter. We are the former, UGA and Nebraska are the latter. Those are the kind of programs you transfer to if you want to play in a P-6 conference but with the kind of competition for minutes you'd face at a bad mid-major.

Did you know that words like "school" and "university" don't mean the same thing as "basketball program" or is the English language something new to you?

Look, of course we have a better basketball program than those schools. But they are still power 5 programs at big state universities. If you want to make an argument, I'm just asking that you use the proper words to express your point.

Are you gonna show us a link where this is even predicted or are you gonna tell me there is a different definition of "starting minutes guaranteed" that you clearly meant?
