CP3 is old enough now that a guy like Herb literally grew up watching his bitch arse pretend to help an opponent up and then pull his hand back at the last second dozens of times.

Paul lowered his shoulder into Jones initiating the retaliation and all the shite talk, and then thought down the line he’d want his hand to get up?
No thank you, Herb would rather piss you off and lock you up than be buddy buddy and I love it so much.

He also committed what should have been a flagrant 2 against him. The fact that he can't get in a rookie's head pulling his usual dirty bullshite is probably driving him crazy. I just hope he doesn't resort to dick punching Herb in game 5 when all else fails.

CP does seem to have a recurring issue with punching people in the nuts. Odd.

This is hard to argue with, but our staff's record in the portal has been a little hit and miss.
JQ: good. Bruner: good if he could have stayed healthy. Beetle: nah. Burnett: tbd. Gurley: a miss, so far.
Not a bad record, I guess - if anything I don't think we've been aggressive enough though. The only "concerning" thing so far is that we still haven't seemed that aggressive. Maybe that will change with the second wave of portal guys.
There have been a couple of guys (Darin Green Jr., for example) that seemed like good fits that we just didn't seem to pursue at all.
That being said, I'm a bit ambivalent about some of the big names on this board. Akot's highlights vids are intriguing, but he has a bit of a weird statistical profile. I don't think Llewelyn made a ton of sense.

Would be a definite yes for me. Obviously gonna have a lot of options though.

In addition to his offensive numbers Scheierman was by far their best defensive player (on a team that didn't play much defense). So I'd imagine that while he is probably a limited defender, he isn't a total sieve on the wing.
Defensive PRPG
1. Scheierman (+3.2)
2. Wilson (+2.2)
Defensive Box Plus Minus
1. Scheierman (+1.2)
2. Easley (+0.4)
Defensive Rating
1. Scheierman (100.3)
2. Wilson (102.5)

If you're a 6'6 wing & you are reasonably intelligent & play hard, you should be ok defensively.
If we're looking at advanced-ish stats, the interesting thing about him is he's got a surprisingly low usage rate - 22% (compared to 28% for Sears, 35.3% for Antoine Davis).
That plus his 3pt shooting tells me he could fit in well as one of multiple ball handlers on the court. It's not like you have to hand him the ball and get out of the way.
Gonna get these posts out of the way before he doesn't list us in his top 30.

Yep - I think probably because he played on a team with a ton of shooters in a great wide open scheme. They had 4 guys with usage rates > 23%. His rebounding, turnover and havoc defensive stats are pretty good, too. And, like you noted, he'd fit in pretty smoothly I think in our system offensively. I don't think you'd have any of the "can he help without being the ball dominant guy" questions like with some of the other offensive threat guys we've poked around (like Davis).
63% of his 3-pointers were off of assists. Comparatively, 48% of Antoine Davis' 3 pts were off assists.

Unfortunately this is exactly right
I mean damn, 46% from 3PT and 44% in 2021.

Those numbers mean blue bloods will be on his final list. Doubt those teams will shoot as many 3s as we do though.

Personally I'll always remember April 25, 2022 as the day that we rolled this starting 5 out:
Sears
Burnett
Scheiermann
Miller
Bediako
Sears

He’d fit perfectly. We still need a knock down shooter

Kid can probably go anywhere in the country he wants though. Would be a tremendously tough pull.

You never know what a guy is looking for situationally when they transfer up like this, but if he just wants to play his game at a bigger place and be given the best opportunity to thrive and show he can do it in the NBA..........I'd imagine we are a very attractive option.
His game and our system are built for each other, and he can basically do what he's been doing at a mid-major level at the top level and prove he can defend/rebound at that level as well to NBA guys.
Of all the random guys in the portal, this one feels like one where - if we decide we want to - we should have a very good in as we run exactly the style that matches his skillset. He's also seen it up close and personal back in November (and we ran it really well that night).

I have a feeling Duke will start to under Scheyer. He's only 34 and most young coaches these days tend to be pretty analytically minded regardless of the sport.
