So far we have not handled it well. Sugar coat it all you want but this has not been good roster management so far. It's the wild wild west out there, but right now we are being gunned down.
Literally added a top 10 transfer and missed out on a wing that chose Baylor over us.
Panicking and freaking out because no one on twitter has leaked out who we're interested in is insane at this point. I would imagine their waiting for the next wave of people to hit the portal, which will mostly consist of players who decide not to go into the draft.

I don't think anyone is truly panicking, but it is a tad concerning given our current lack of collegiate experience on the roster. The kids let the reporters know who they've heard from, and it's a little disappointing we haven't seen our name associated with contacting many good fits. It's not like kids would have a reason not to mention us if we were contacting them given our recent success. It just seems that, as of now, we cast too small of a net at first and are now reaching out to lower level guys just in case we can't find anybody during that 2nd wave.

That was fun to watch. That man is cold blooded. Good to see him getting some love nationally.

I think we can all now agree that his takes on Herb are the indisputable dumbest shite anyone has ever said in any iteration of this thread. I would say on this board in general, but there is too much ridiculous bullshite said in football threads for me to make that kind of definitive statement.

He wasn't the only one. We had a few Herb Jones haters, even in his senior year. We have a lot of dumb AF basketball fans.

What would Herb and Alabama basketball become if Nate had arrived before his freshman year?
I envision the defensive cyborg that he is now with the ability to step back and drain a three or drive and dunk if his defender looked away for a split second. He’s probably averaging about 17 points per game instead of 10. A triple double threat on any given night.

Naasir Cunningham, the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2024, is signing with Overtime Elite, he told ESPN. Cunningham is the first OTE player to forgo a salary, preserving his college basketball eligibility if he chooses.

Cunningham, who has significant upside for the NBA ranks, is the highest-ranked recruit ever to sign with OTE. OTE's new “scholarship” option, allowing players to eschew a salary and not close the door on the NCAA route, could be a game-changer in the high school recruiting world
I didn't even realize you could forgo the salary to maintain collegiate eligibility.

Herb put Trae Young in prison his freshman year. Dude has been a national DPOY candidate since his freshman year. Herb wasn’t putting up 15 a night consistently in college and the ball going in the basket is where 90% of our basketball fandom’s collective basketball IQ begins and ends.

May 1 is the date to go portaling and still receive a one-time transfer exception.
However, many are skeptical and wonder whether the NCAA will allow any and all waivers filed post-May 1.

College football coaches are expecting a bustling week in the NCAA transfer portal. Athletes must give schools a "written request to enter" the portal by May 1 "if they participate in a fall or winter sport."
And Jeff Borzello responded with:
quote:
College hoops expecting the same: a potential late surge of names into the portal before the May 1 deadline. Some coaches hoping some impact names hit the portal, other coaches hoping to just keep their rosters intact. Should be an interesting week.

Yeah stressing over recruiting this early in the cycle is unhealthy. I trust our evals over the ones in this board. As others in here have said, it’s very likely we like the guys in the draft process coming back more than what’s out there currently. I haven’t been blown away by any of the names we’ve been “linked” to anyway.
We’ve advanced past just taking whatever 3/4 star wants to come. Annual top 25 programs in the SEC producing NBA starters get their pick of top talent more than whatever the frick we were not too long ago. Expect some new names in the coming weeks.
