It sucks, but I get it. Choosing Alabama over Baylor in basketball would be a bit of a surprise nationally tbh.

Where do we go from here? Antoine Davis and Antonio Reeves are the other guys we've been linked to and Reeves is considered a heavy UK lean supposedly.

Yep. Had basically convinced myself that we would get him.

I blame Saban for this tbh.

Either we have been talking to a bunch of guys that no one is aware of, or we might start the season with like 9 healthy players on the roster. And that's assuming we avoid the Alabama basketball tradition of 2-3 major offseason injuries.

I mean, I really don't know. There are some intriguing names out there that seem to be good fits for what we want, but we've been so sparingly linked to guys I have no clue what we are looking for.

Michael Jones from Davidson is still out there with relatively little news about him. He's an elite shooter, 6-5, supposedly plays solid team defense. Seems like a great option, but again, who knows?

DJ Jeffries (State/Memphis) is in the portal now. He only shot 29% from 3 last year but shot 35% and 39% in prior years at Memphis. Solid rebounder and defender. Would have to get a waiver for his 2nd transfer I guess?

Grant Basile from Wright State is a 6-9 guy who fills up the box score, has lined up visits to Wisconsin, Iowa State, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.

Dexter Dennis from Wichita is supposed to be an elite defender. Hasn't shot well from 3PT but is a very good FT shooter, which leads you to believe he might have a chance to be a good 3PT shooter.

Those are just ideas on the next step for the "Bridges" spot (wing/stretch). The other spot I'd assume is a 3PT shooting guard.

Well that’s a big whiff. There better be solid backup options in the portal or this roster is going to be crazy thin in depth and experience next year.

Certainly sounds as though Memphis is the clear-cut leader for SMU transfer Kendric Davis — one of the top transfers on the board.

Veteran guard averaged 19.4 points and shot 37 percent from 3 last season.

Did he enter by the deadline for SEC to SEC transfers? He has been in college for 3 years and may have graduated too, which would moot all of that.

I'm confident we'll grab some guys who are experienced, but I think that it's going to be tough to grab a guy who does multiple things really well like Bridges did.

We're probably looking at an experienced guy who does 1 thing really well (shoot, defend, rebound) and then another thing sort of well. Not the end of the world, but will certainly put more pressure on the freshmen to be big pieces from Day 1.

I'm just going to irrationally believe that we're getting Bates and Reeves until I'm told otherwise. I know the staff has contingency plans, but like others have said, haven't really seen too many leaks or rumors in regards to us. So kinda hard to speculate at the moment.

Emmanuel Akot is probably the guy I want the most now. No idea what he's going to do yet though.

That would be great but I don't think I've even seen us linked to Bates. That would be a pull completely out of nowhere.

Is Emoni Bates an option?

A bunch of these guys that are attractive are doing the NBA Draft + Portal thing, so there is probably a bit of a lag.

Akot, Courtney Ramey from Texas (who would be a great pickup), Terrence Shannon, Souley Boum (UTEP)

I think Bates has 0% chance of happening. Better chance at getting Reeves, but I doubt we will - seems like he's UK's to lose.

We've been linked to making contact but that's about it.

Sucks but kind of expected it. Hopefully, the staff has been working on backup options. We don’t really seem to be in it for Reeves, maybe start working Davis hard?

You have to think the studs we have coming in may have hurt our chances with him.

I know ppl think it’s just a “Baylor over Bama” decision but maybe PT was a factor.

Seeing Brandon Miller coming in maybe made him think twice.

It sucks either way
