I liked Gary but it seemed like he regressed big time after being injured and never got it back. He brought toughness around the rim. He was big for us on the glass last season in a lot huge games.

He just sort of vanished. He took way too many 3s and missed way too many gimmes at the rim.

Juwan was the king of meme, though. His Twitter game was legendary. He posted some hilarious clips.

I wish the kid well.

He needs more like 40. His legs look like literal sticks.

It's not that 90s anymore. We run too much to have a 260 lbs center.

I want Gurley to be as much like what healthy Bruner was as he can be.

Who do we think is most likely to sign first from the portal at this point?

Im guessing Sears, but some of you guys seem to have your ear to the traintracks.

Probably Sears if I had to guess. He’s the only one to schedule a visit AND a timetable for commitment so far I think

I think it will be Jaelin Llewellyn honestly.

Aren't we thinking it's either Sears or Llewellyn? Could it be both? Guess it depends a lot on JD and JQ.

Coach Oats & company put forth a lot of effort recruiting him so with that being said I think he will be first!

Jaelin Llewellyn
Mark Sears
Jalen Bridges

I think we add them in the next few weeks!

JD has a lot of potential so I think he will be NBA Bound and I think he will be drafted higher than a lot folks think!

I think both will be gone!

Like someone said a week ago...JQ could stay so he can get the medical help needed for his injury.

Feel like Sears and Bridges will commit first on the same day. Just a feeling.

Yes, that is correct, Juwan Gary was the worst 3PT% shooter in the conference. 2 for 19.

Gary is a very poor shooter, but his impact isn't really on the offensive end as much as it is on the defensive end.

You can fast-forward to the last 9 games of the season where Gurley took a similar number of attempts (20) and shot 15% (3/20). He turned his shot around early in SEC Play, but considering how he finished his season it certainly wasn't just a matter of him getting comfortable.

Again, I really hope I'm wrong (and very possibly could be) and Gurley turns things around next season, but I just don't see any evidence of a player poised for a breakout year.

JD is 100% gone, imo. JQ it makes sense for him to come back but idk how much that will affect Sears and Jaelin’s decision. But I do think both is a possibility.

I don't know why your comparing the two honestly. Gurley is a better shooter despite what his numbers where this past season. Gary didn't do much defensively either so why are we talking bout his defense?

Gary & JQ had a very disappointing year!

Because Gary is a vastly superior and more diverse defender than Gurley.

I challenge you to find a word other than "disappointing" to describe Gurley's season...

Look, I love Oats as our coach and am thrilled with the general direction of our program despite a disappointing season. That doesn't mean I'm going to agree with every decision that is made. I'm not ecstatic with this decision, but I understand there's a roster number crunch and Oats isn't going to view certain guys like I do.

I’m not a big fan of Gurley. Seems like an awesome dude in interviews but on the court I’ve hardly been impressed outside of the Arkansas game.

Gets abused on the glass and defensively too often.

Seems like a constant theme with our bigs and it has to get fixed. We statistically were a great offensive rebounding team because of our style of play and many missed shots end up being long rebounds. Defensively under the basket we were not very good.

But of course our opponents scored at will so there weren’t as many opportunities to get rebounds as well.

That’s what I’m most eager to see next season. Defense and rebounding. Is it just a personnel issue or is there something else underlying within the system? I don’t have an answer and genuinely curious.

2 out of 3 seasons we’ve ranked in the 200s in defensive efficiency under Oats yet with the right players during our championship season we were elite.

Regardless of my feelings on our offensive style it isn’t the issue. There are many different ways to win...what it’ll all come down to is defense.

I think we’re bringing in players that can pick it up on that end.

I think we should all agree that your first sentence is no longer necessary in this thread (and I say that as someone who has used it multiple times).
