That’s an interesting one. 6’10, 235 with this stat line:

16.8 ppg, 10.5 RBs, 3.9 Blocks per game, shot 55% from the field.

Was 0-5 from 3 for the year.

Not an obvious roster fit, but if he’s really good you could figure it out.

I'd take him. If we're keeping Bediako without the outside shot, we might as well get someone more experienced to rotate with him.

We could bring him teammate with him. Ta'Lon Cooper is his teammate combo guard and entered the portal with him.

It would have to be bad news for Bediako or Pringle.

However, I just throw my hands up in the air about roster management. At this point last year, I was making rotation projections that included Josh Primo and Langston Wilson. Not to mention Tchikou and Burnett.

So true. I enjoy it more than I should.

I think he will declare but don't think he'll get the positive feedback he hopes. Don't think his 3pt shooting is as good as he'll need at his height. He's actually regressed a little each season in that area.

Side note: Hope he goes. I'm done with his flopping.

Pippen used his free declare last year so he's in or out this year.

yea. I think he declares but doesn't get the draft position he's expecting. I think he's hit his ceiling as a player also. Coming back probably won't help him.

Arkansas sophomore forward Jaylin Williams will enter his name in the 2022 NBA Draft, per CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Williams will maintain his eligibility by not signing with an agent and could still return to Fayetteville for the 2022-23 season.

If Justin Powell ends up in the portal, what do we think about him?

On the one hand, his skillset fits what we probably need on this roster. On the other hand, 3 teams in 3 years and basically being removed from the rotation the last 1/3 of the year at Tennessee because he wasn't tough enough/didn't defend up to their standards is not the sort of thing that inspires confidence when you are in an offseason looking to build toughness and defense.

Not sure what I think.

He definitely has some offensive skills that would be useful, but I have no idea what he is defensively. If he is decent enough on that side, I would support it.

Auburn > Tennessee > Alabama is quite the redemption story too.

He certainly isn't a "good" defender, and he struggles to make basically any shot other than a 3PT. But he is a very good 3PT shooter (he had a down year this year and still shot 38%).

If he plays with effort then I think I'd probably be ok with it because having a guy like that is huge in our system.

How is his handle? I feel like I remember him looking pretty savvy and under control with the ball in his hands when he was at Auburn, but didn't see him as much this past season at UT.

I love the sound of that considering what kind of looks our offense should be able to generate for a guy like that.

I remember the same thing - didn't they have him playing point guard early last year? I remember that he wasn't a true big time college PG but that everyone thought he handled it pretty well.

His numbers at Auburn were pretty good for a true freshman PG playing out of position there (32.6 assist rate, 23.0 TO rate). At Tennessee this year off ball he didn't turn it over much at all (14.5) but also had almost no assists (which makes sense).

That's my thought, too. Especially after losing Shack and not really having a reliable guy shooting those shots. I think we have some guys who could become solid 3PT shooters, but as of now we don't have one who has proven it.

Agreed on that - he may not be a top priority kind of guy, but he is certainly an excellent plan b guy if he does hit the portal and we miss on someone else.
