Fair assessment. Without really reading into shack's tweet i will welcome him back if hes indeed staying. Gives us an experienced scoring option and im all for any guy who loves the school and program like he seems to do. Just probably means we only take 2 transfers at most.

So as of now, if Shack indeed comes back, that’s six spots right? Rojas, KAH, and Tchikou. Assuming JD, Ellis, and Q enter the draft. That’s only one portal spot or do we think more are leaving?

I'd be surprised if all 3 of Miles, Gary, and Holt are back. "Jabari Smith, but more skilled" comparisons aside, Miller will definitely eat into a bunch of those wing minutes.

I think Gurley also counts as a COVID year super senior doesn't he? Or was that just a this season thing?

From a dude who’s pretty dang connected and a very solid source with this comment on the team on BOL.

Has that guy from BOL said anything since this?

He's a Covid super senior because technically anyone that was playing during the shortened season gets an extra one. So he shouldn't count against the scholarship number unless they changed that rule (and I couldn't find anything when I looked).

Jaylin Williams vs Drew Timme.

Officials will have no clue who to call a foul on.

Zags settling for way too many threes super early in the shot clock.

Big third quarter for the ladies. Up 62-46 headed to the fourth quarter.

Outscored Houston 22-6 in the third quarter.

Jaylin Williams' second charge drawn tonight. Make it 52 for the season. God forbid someone drive and take off without that dude sliding in under them.
quote:

52 is 8 more than Alabama had as a team entering the NCAAT 1st round.
quote:

For comparison - assuming the game notes are correct, Alabama had taken 56 total charges prior to last season's NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen game.

That's just such a chickenshit way to play basketball. He's the front court version of Floppin. They know how refs call games and take advantage of it even if it isn't within the spirit of the rules.

Folks, it’s time for a #Thread™ about the relative lack of success of the SEC in the NCAA Tournament in recent history. And by “recent history”, I mean “since 1980” which was the year after the Bird/Magic final and the year before Coach K got to Duke.
quote:

NCAA Tournament titles by conference 1980-2021:

ACC 13
Big East 9
SEC 6
Big 10 4
Big 8/12 3
PAC 10/12 2
Metro 2
Big West 1
American 1

For all great moments in the Tournament by “mid-major” and “small conference” teams, nobody has won the thing. UNLV ‘90 was an NBA team.
quote:

The Metro Conference eventually morphed into CUSA and/or The American, and certain of its teams joined other conferences along the way. Both those titles were by Louisville in the ‘80s.
quote:

Winning it all is one thing…how about runners-up?

ACC 7
Big East 5
SEC 4
BIG 10 9
Big 8/12 4
PAC 10/12 3
SWC 2 (Houston)
Horizon 2 (Butler)
WCC 2 (Gonzaga)
WAC 1 (Utah)
CUSA 1 (Memphis)

Still very little breakthrough by other than the “Big 6” conferences.
quote:

41 Tournaments…82 Finalists…% by conference:

ACC 24%
Big East 17%
Big 10 16%
SEC 12%
Big 8/12 10%
PAC 10/12 6%
Others 15%

For bracket purposes, you are historically better off betting “The Non-Big 6 Field” than the SEC, Big 12, or PAC 12 to be in the final game.
quote:

Narrowing it down to coaches over those 41 Tournaments:

Coach K 5
Calhoun 3
Roy 3
Dean 2
Pitino 2
Crum 2
Jay Wright 2
Donovan 2
Knight 2
Others 18 (1 each)

Coach K has one less title than the SEC over his 40ish years at Duke Calhoun and Roy have half as many as the SEC.
quote:

UNC has one fewer than the SEC as well.
UConn has two fewer.
Louisville has half as many.
So does Villanova.
Indiana has 1/3.
So does Kansas.

Kentucky has half the SEC’s 6 titles.
Florida has 1/3…in back-to-back seasons.
quote:

That list of 18 with only 1 title is like a HOF directory:

Valvano, Thompson, Rollie, Larry Brown, Tark, Richardson, Lute, Tubby, Izzo, Williams, Boeheim, Self, Cal.

It’s damn hard to win an NCAA Tournament, folks.
quote:

The SEC’s last title was 10 years ago.

The Big 10’s was 22

The PAC 12’s was 25

It’s damn hard to win an NCAA Tournament, folks.
quote:

Compiled Final 4 teams for those years…

ACC-34 21%
Big 10-28 17%
Big East-22 13%
SEC-23 14%
Big 12-17 10%
PAC12-12 7%

Others-28 17%

Similar splits as with champions and runners-up for the most part.
