I love all the fans of other teams on twitter acting like this devastated our team. LOL
A lot of good names entered the portal recently, Oats and Hodgson will land one, probably with a little more size than Shack. Him, JD, and JQ are all small and I don’t think 3 small guards was gonna work

That's the benefit of having a system and known identity. This isn't Rick Barnes we're talking about.

I know this sounds like me being a homer, but I promise it’s not. There are options, like Marcus Carr, who could end up being an upgrade over Shack. It may end up being a blessing in disguise if we can pull a guy like that from the portal.

Hate to see Primo leave but super excited for him and to see more of our guys in the NBA.
Sad to see Shacks Alabama career end like this. I dunno why it's happening but it just kinda sucks.
We've got some more questions going into next year than we'd all hoped, but still a great roster and a great coaching staff and system. Still very excited about the squad.

Shack was allowed to lead the team in shot attempts last year even though we had at least 4 other guards who were more talented. Not sure what he is looking for.
I guess we will know by where he transfers to if the main reason was he wanted to be closer to home or if he wanted to be on a team with less a less loaded roster if he was worried about playing time.

Damn, I really wanted that second year from Primo before he bolted.
I think we need to go after another primary ball handler in the portal. JD is still adjusting to the higher level of play and we need an experienced point who can distribute while JD grows up. If said transfer could chip in about 10 points per game, that would be a nice bonus.

I’m honestly just happy that the draft and transfer processes are finally over and a roster mostly set. At least there isn’t any more wondering at this point. We get to add another transfer and start thinking about next season without speculating about who will be in Tuscaloosa. It’s going to be a super talented group without much experience playing together, but the talent on the roster is undeniable.
It might be a bumpy start to the season as the guys learn how to play together in this system, especially with the OOC setting up to be a real test. I fully expect this team to be competing for another conference crown come February though and I’m very much looking forward to it. We should learn a lot about this team right out of the gate.
Also, with the rule changes to the transfer portal and NIL along with presumably more turnover due to the potential draft prospects, I see more off-seasons like this one in Bama basketball’s future.

Not to sound bitter but...I think Shack is gonna end up regretting this. Nobody else is gonna give him the green light and freedom that Oats did.

If we get Marcus Carr then my expectations are back to where they were with Primo and Shack

I'd love to get Carr. Cedric Russell wouldn't be bad either, he was top 20 in the country in made threes last season, averaged an efficient 17 points per game. He scored 26 points vs Baylor last year. Good ball handler too.

I think it will be somebody with positional versatility. Shack was a small guy who couldn’t handle the ball that great. He was basically locked in at the 2 at all times.

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if they went after a bigger guard like Keith Williams. He is from NY, not sure if Buffalo recruited him out of HS or not, he was a 4 star in the 2017 class.

mistaken, didn't you say that the guy from BOL also said Oats had someone ready to pull the trigger if we had a spot open up?
That guy saying anything now about who it may be?
He hasn’t said a name but he said it has to be filled by July 7th. Idk where he is getting that date from
He said we had a backup plan for Primo. So I wonder if we are adding 2 now that Shack has left also.

I’m honestly not sure. I was told we had a back up plan for Primo, like I said we have been prepared for him to go pro for a while. I was never given a name though.

I don’t think the sky is falling, but I do think this team could use another shooter now, given the style we play.
JQ shot it amazingly well last year, and that may well continue. Keon shot it well on low volume. I have no sense for how JD will shoot the ball. I think there’s reason to belivve that Burnett is a much better shooter than he showed last year (he was an excellent FT shooter and usually that translates to other areas of the court), but still he shot 17% from 3 last year - he’s unproven to say the least.
I think if we don’t add another shooter then we really have to hope one of Holt or Miles hits, which is certainly possible. Gurley should help a bit too. Tchikou is a wild card.
Again, sky isn’t falling at all, but we could probably use another shooter.

That’s it?
Will be interesting to see how we gel and who steps up. I’m excited as hell either way.
I’m happy for Primo. I hate Shack is taking off.
I’m excited to see Keon Ellis this year.
