Hate to lose him but hope it works out for him and he doesn’t get burned by the draft

I want Primo back but it’s no big deal if he doesn’t come back. Guys like Nimari Burnett and Darius Miles will be just fine

Here is a practice report from a user on Rivals...
quote:

I went to the Basketball Camp yesterday with my son. They let us watch practice for a bit. Frenchie was walking around fine without the boot, but he wore it most of the time.

Other things I noticed:
1. Q looks awesome. Just has another gear.

2. The team in general just plays so fast.

3. Burnette only missed one 3 that I saw. Very impressive.

4. JD looked good and fast, but he was not able to just drive and dunk. He passed the ball well

5. Holt looked thin, but nice handles and could shoot

6. They missed free throws - made them do push ups every time they did. The whole team

7. Gurley looks thick and I kept confusing him with Gary.

8. Gary caught an amazing alley-oop from Q

All of the kids were great with campers. My son is having a blast. Well run camp.

We need video. Last time they had camps we got a lot of video of the team practicing

Remember last November when we looked like arse in the early season? Everyone was ready to throw in the towel at that point

It will take time for the team's chemistry to gel, but last season's early struggles were in large part due to guys not being bought in defensively. Plus now going into next season, we know guys like Gary are going to play well above their size.

It’s gonna take time this year too. Especially if Primo doesn’t come back. Lot of new faces. They have to get used to playing together. Oats will have to iron out playing time and rotations.

I hope this doesn’t come back to bite us in the arse.

the good news is we could lose 10 or so games and still be a 2 seed as long as we win just a couple of the really tough ones. thats how it works for the big 10 atleast.

Yep. A Quad 1 loss has almost zero negative effect on the rankings. But A quad 3 has a strong negative effect. And I like the idea of our guys playing tough OoC games and early season tournaments. That's valuable experience for player and team development.

So I don't see much downside. The one potential issue I can see, is the increased difficult of our total schedule, could make injuries a higher possibility. But that's a pretty bitch arse mentality and poor excuse. Having a top 5 schedule strength is only gonna help our seeding, even with a few losses.

Not only that, but I can't wait to watch this roster go against the best teams in the country. This may be the best Bama basketball roster that I've ever seen, maybe the best in my lifetime. And those big time games are going to get exposure. And that exposure will be noticed by elite recruits. They want to play in big games. Not a cupcake that's on ESPN3.

I am a little worried about Oats and his health. Carrying around those elephantiasis testicles has to be bad on your back. I think the University needs to pony up and get him a good wheelbarrow. Something with a flat free tire.

What does this mean? Who is able to just drive and dunk on anybody at this level? We know he can dunk. What are they looking for him to do? Crossover his defender and jam everything?

Any idea why Shack hasn’t said anything? Is there a possibility of him just wanting to leave? Just curious.

Idk..but this is the 3rd separate person all who have watched 3 separate practices who have reported some flaws that need to be worked on. He will figure it out but I’ve been saying it..just because he was a top 10 recruit doesn’t mean he is gonna come in here and start Game 1.

Rumor over on BOL was that he wanted to transfer closer to home because he was unsure about playing time or something. But people over there are now saying he had a talk with Oats and is good to go now.

People just watch highlights and have unrealistic expectations for kids 1 year out of high school, 2a to elite D1 level competition is a huge jump even for someone as talented as JD

There's gonna be a learning curve, especially these early months. Even in AAU basketball, he never seen this level of defense and chemistry in his life. And we play damn good defense, even losing Herb and Primo.

With months of practice with the team before the season starts, things are going to start moving slower for him. He's also going to learn more about strategy and efficiency than he's learned in his entire career. It's more mental than physical. At worst, I'd still exist to see him get 15+minutes a game. I'd like to think Oats told him he'll have to earn his playing time over veterans, who also are also busting their asses to get drafted in the league. If manages to become a starter, or a closer, by the end of our tough ooc schedule, then he's as good as advertised. But it won't be easy either.

Another practice report from BOL posted like 10 mins ago. I hope y’all don’t mind me posting all of these.

quote:

Quinerly was unstoppable. He was matched up with JD entire session, attacked over and over. Stepbacks, floaters, everything.

Oats isn't taking it easy on JD, he's earning it.

Keon Ellis rolled his ankle, missed the 2nd half if practice.

Tchikou was out of the boot and walking around.

Still haven't seen Shack, not 100% sure where he is.

quote:

Oats & JQ schooling JD on what it takes to play D on this team - will pay dividends down the road. Shack is moving down on that depth chart.

Loved this one

I might be in the minority, but I’m not concerned one way or another about Shack. I’d like Primo to come back though

Shack’s style of play just annoys me. It’s a personal problem I guess. I enjoy watching Q. Most of the time, he is in control of what he’s doing. I don’t feel that Shack has that quality yet. You can basically call exactly when he’s going to drive out of control and just throw crap up.

I want Freshman Shack back on the offensive end. Combine Freshman Shack Offense with Sophomore Shack defense and we will have a great player
