Just look at those numbers - we're without a doubt going to be a better offensive team next year with Ellis/Primo getting a year under their belt and more usage on offense (plus Davison). They are the most consistent scorers at the rim and from deep already.
Ellis is going to be a damn star.

Agreed. I think we're going to have more of the two things we lacked the most this year - more of an inside game from the bigs, and a better finishers at the rim from the guards.

Yep, 100% agree. And I think we'll be a less streaky 3PT team too. Shack and Petty took the bulk of our 3s (40%) and they were all over the map throughout the season. Shack will still take a bunch, but JQ/Ellis were pretty consistent and I think Primo will be too.

100%. Herb stagnated the offense the last 10 or so games and Petty kinda got in a bad habit of playing ISO Hero Ball late in the season.
I bet Turnovers are down next year and we will flow a lot better

From February 1st through the end of the season - SEC Box Plus/Minus rankings
1. Keon Ellis (Bama) (+8.7)
2. Tre Mann (UF) (+8.3)
3. Justin Smith (Ark) (+8.2)
4. Isaiah Jackson (UK) (+7.9)
5. Juwan Gary (Bama) (+7.6)
6. Dru Smith (Mizzou) (+7.2)
6. Davion Mintz (UK) (+7.2)
8. Cam Thomas (LSU) (+7.0)
9. Colin Castleton (UF) (+6.9)
10. Herb Jones (Bama) (+6.6)
Keon also had by far the lowest usage rate of that group of 10. To be honest, we probably should have gotten him more involved, but I'm not sure Oats wanted to mess with stuff (which I get).
He was insanely good from starting at about the Oklahoma game.

I’m really looking forward to Keon’s offensive role increasing. He was really good at getting the rim and making contested/tough shots

Yeah, I was thinking about that the other day in relation to Petty leaving. I'm going to miss the potential that was always there for him to catch fire and make 10 in a game. But, it would be kind of nice to have a guy that consistently makes 3-5 out of every 10.

And he shot 43% from 3PT the last 2 months of the season on 28 shots!
43%!

We should have gotten him more touches offensively

I'm just really damn excited about the overall makeup of this roster for next season. I hope that isn't a bad sign

I really also think one of our biggest issues what that we had to play Herb at the point when JQ wasn't in. There really wasn't another option, and because of that he ended up having to have the ball in his hands a lot and that led to a lot of shots and drives and such.
Next year, that other guy is going to be JD Davison.
Last list for me today before I get back to work, but this kind of shows why that was such an issue.
All NCAAT Teams vs Top 100 Opponents - Usage rate of > 25% & 60% mins played
Offensive Rating (out of 54 players)
37. Herb Jones (98.6)
The only major college players with a high usage rate in the tournament and a worse offensive rating for the season were:
- Jacob Young (Rutgers) (97.0)
- Xavier Pinson (Missouri) (96.1)
- Keon Johnson (Tennessee) (92.9)
- Caleb Love (North Carolina) (85.9)

Gardner's advanced stats were more impressive as a sophomore. I don't know exactly what played into the decline this year (it wasn't really usage as far as I can tell - he was high usage basically from day 1 at ECU).
He had offensive ratings of over 110 his first two years. A BPM of +4.6 as a sophomore, etc.
The thing with him is he just does not shoot 3s AT ALL. How we would incorporate him is something of a mystery to me. He's a great rebounder, but he's way too good of a scorer to turn into a new Bola.
The Burnett stuff is basically what you would expect. I would be excited to get him, but you basically have to write off (or talk yourself into writing off) his offensive numbers as a freshmen. They were atrocious.

I think if he is channeled/coached right he can be an outstanding player but I'm just not buying the hype on him as a transfer. I know Arkansas is apparently doing well with him but so many things that worry me about him. If feels so boom or bust with him.

Agreed - and he's not young, either. I think he could be a nice player for somebody who is ok with some wildness and TOs in exchange for offensive spark, but not really for a high level team who wants a PG who can run their offense and make good decisions.

Memphis sophomore and former five-star prospect Boogie Ellis will be entering the transfer portal, a source told @Stockrisers. Another huge hit for the portal. Ellis averaged 10.5 points on 40% shooting this season.

This doesn't worry me at all. there have been a lot of highly ranked guys who didnt do well their first season at one school, transferred and lived up to their ranking at the transfer school. I think Nimari would do the same.
Quinerly - Villanova to Alabama
Quentin Grimes - Kansas to Houston
Johnny Juzang - Kentucky to UCLA
Davion Mitchell - Auburn to Baylor
All those guys are tearing it up and made the sweet 16 this year.

I think someone needs to start reporting on how many of these kids end up nowhere.
You hear a lot about the Burrows and Juzang. Not so much about all the failures.
