They might as well give Wade a call. He's at least capable of coaching a team of pros to the tournament. Penny can't even do that.

I may be in the minority but I have always though wade was a pretty good in game coach. I mean we blew LSU out twice then he came back with a game plan of letting Watford post up almost every time down and they almost beat us with it.
I think Penny is a horrible coach.

Penny thought he could buy this way into the NBA. It ain’t as easy buying players as he thought..

I don't think it would've taken John Wooden to figure out we had a terrible front court after Brunner got injured. I mean, our best option at 5 was Gary, who's technically a 6'6" SF. Nothing against Gary. But the only reason he played as our 5, is because he's got that Ben Wallace junkyard dog kinda hustle. Fredo Wade is so dumb, it took him arse kickings to figure out what a YMCA coach would've known going into the first game

Juwan Gary seems like the forgotten man by the fans on this team this off season. No talk at all about him. I expect he will improve his 3 point shooting. He's going to be two years removed from surgery. And he's got the alpha dog mentality that every team needs to win tough games.
Where do yall think Gary fits in next year?
I think if he stays healthy he's gonna be a lot of people's favorite player.

He has a 67% winning percentage as a college coach which is good. Oats has a winning percentage of 68%. Jay Wrights winning percentage in college is 69%, for comparisons sake.
People who think Wade is a bad head coach are biased because they hate him because he is dirty, and I understand that, he is dirty as crap, he isn't a bad coach though when it comes to game planning or X's and O's.

Gary's ability to jump like he's on a pogo stick to get rebounds is impressive, quick to the ball. He plays a lot next year.

Yeah I don't know what his role will be, but he's an active, high energy big who has a knack for finding the ball. Guys like that play a lot in college basketball. It's damn near impossible to win anything significant without one of them.

If Gary develops his jump shot a bit more, he'll be dangerous. Right now he has to play the 4/extremely small ball 5 for us because of his limited range. I loved hearing about Burnett's shot being back, hope to hear more about Gary's soon.

I think it's less about being biased, and more about the appearance of him seemingly underachieving relative to the talent he's had.

Yeah it doesn't really take a basketball savant to buy a team with 3-4 future NBA guys and then run an iso heavy offense designed to let them make NBA plays. Penny being a disaster doing the same thing doesn't necessarily make Wade a good coach. It just makes Penny a dreadful one. Wade is Gottfried 2.0. If he gets outbid on too many recruits a couple of years in a row he's going to field some godawful teams. Iso offenses only work if you have the horses to run them.

I can’t wait to see JD on the floor. I watched him play in the AI invitational and was really impressed.
